Chapter 678
Chapter 678
“Isn’t Bagot your best friend? You two grew up together. What hasn’t he seen?”
The robotic female voice echoed clearly. Nathalie’s stance was rock-solid. There was absolutely no way she was bathing him.
Lance faced her, equally unyielding. “Seeing is completely different from touching. Nat, you know me. I don’t let anyone touch me, and I certainly don’t touch anyone else.”
“Then shower yourself.”
Nathalie firmly typed the final verdict, slipping her phone back into her pocket.
Hearing the sharp click of the screen locking, Lance pressed his pale lips together. After a few seconds of heavy silence, he asked quietly, “Can you at least walk me to the bathroom?”
Nathalie’s beautiful brows pulled together in a frown.
She stared at his bandaged face, an overwhelming sense of helplessness washing over her. Once Lance made up his mind, nothing could change
She sighed silently, stood up, and took his arm to guide him off the bed, leading him slowly into the bathroom.
Once inside, she positioned him safely out of the immediate splash zone. Pulling out her phone, she typed rapidly: “Take off your clothes. But if I see any… other reactions from you, you’re done showering.”
Beneath the gauze, Lance’s eyebrows shot up. He gave a slow, measured
nod.
He began leisurely unbuttoning his shirt. Nathalie turned her back to him, turning on the showerhead and adjusting the water temperature.
Chapter 678
When she had the water perfectly warm and turned back around, he was completely bare, standing there with absolute nonchalance.
Nathalie’s eyelashes fluttered as her gaze instinctively swept over his body.
Her eyes landed first on the wound on his chest. It hadn’t fully healed yet and absolutely could not get wet. Scanning further, she noticed several other scars, both large and small, littered across his skin.
She remembered vividly that he didn’t used to have these.
Every single one of these scars was new. They had all been inflicted this
year.
And every single one of them was because of her.
Nathalie’s chest tightened violently, a suffocating wave of emotion wrapping around her heart, making it difficult to breathe.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she walked over, grabbed his hand, and traced the letters onto his palm: [I’m going to ask the nurse for a waterproof dressing. You can’t get your wounds wet.]
“Okay,” Lance replied, standing perfectly obediently where she had left
him.
Nathalie hurried out. The second the sound of her footsteps faded down the hall, Lance let out a sharp exhale.
He tilted his head back, his prominent Adam’s apple bobbing heavily as he desperately fought to suppress the heat rising in his blood.
But it was impossible.
When it came to her, he possessed absolutely zero self-control.
Cursing under his breath, he stumbled forward blindly until he was directly under the showerhead. He cranked the handle to freezing cold and let the icy water blast over him.
Chapter 678
He needed to calm down. Fast. If she saw him like this, she would definitely storm out and leave him dripping wet.
When Nathalie rushed back in, she gasped in horror. Lance was standing directly under the blast of freezing water! She bolted forward, grabbing his arm and yanking him out of the spray.
Panic and fury warring in her chest, and entirely unable to scream at him, she settled for smacking him hard on the shoulder.
He was actually showering in ice water!
Was he trying to give himself a heart attack?!
