Chapter 701
Elara Lane administered several acupuncture needles into Madonna. With
a sharp gasp, Madonna jolted awake.
Her face was pale as she gripped Elara’s hand. Looking at Lance, she asked, “Is it true? Lance, is what he said true?”
Lance replied, “Didn’t Dad go back? Didn’t he tell you?”
“He…”
Madonna opened her mouth, but for a moment, no words came out.
After Carl returned to Cabinda, he hadn’t even stopped by the family estate. He went straight to the cemetery, checked into a nearby hotel, and visited Jackson every single day. He would spend entire days there.
Of course, he didn’t know.
Madonna covered her face, a suppressed sob escaping her lips. “How did this happen? How could it come to this? Jasper is still so little. How
could she be so ruthless? That’s her own flesh and blood!”
She was overwhelmed with a suffocating wave of grief and rage.
When the image of Jasper’s tiny, frail figure flashed through her mind, the despair only grew more suffocating.
The hospital room was filled with the sound of Madonna’s crying. No one else spoke.
It took a long time for her to stabilize her emotions. She grabbed a tissue, wiped her tears away, and demanded, “Where is Felice James?”
Nicol answered, “We’ve secured her in a bungalow on the outskirts of the city.”
“Take me there.”
Madonna stood up, her expression turning ice-cold.

Nicol hesitated. “Given your current condition, are you sure you should go?”
Madonna gritted her teeth. “I have to go. I need to ask her what on earth she was thinking.”
If she didn’t see Felice and make her pay, she would never find peace.
It was far too vicious.
As a mother, how could anyone be so thoroughly evil?
Nicol looked at Lance. “Are you comfortable letting her go?”
“Go with her,” Lance ordered.
Nicol nodded. “Alright, let’s head out.’

Madonna marched out of the hospital room, radiating pure fury.
Only then did Elara speak up. “That’s absolutely horrific. A mother poisoning her own child? Causing permanent paralysis? Is that something a human being is even capable of doing?”
Nathalie looked at Elara, a flicker of envy crossing her eyes.
Elara had grown up surrounded by love and had seen very little of the world’s profound ugliness. Nathalie envied that purity.
She turned to Lance and typed, “You didn’t tell her about this?”
Lance hummed in acknowledgment. “There was no need. She would have found out naturally when the time was right.”
A strange light flickered in Nathalie’s watery gaze.
Knowing he was injured would undoubtedly make Madonna anxious and
upset. Dropping the truth about Jasper on top of that could have
triggered a dangerous medical emergency.
