Chapter 707
Madonna held the child tightly and burst into tears. Jasper looked completely bewildered, his large eyes filled with innocent confusion as his tiny hands frantically tried to wipe away her tears.
“Grandma, don’t cry. Not poor. Don’t cry.”
Seeing his sweet reaction only broke Madonna’s heart further. She hugged him tighter before realizing she was losing control of her
emotions. She quickly backpedaled, “Don’t be scared, Jasper. Grandma just missed you so much.”
Jasper wrapped his little arms around her neck. “I missed Grandma too.”
His sweet, childish voice felt like a jagged knife plunging directly into Madonna’s chest.
Her hatred for Felice only intensified.
It was pure evil!
How could anyone be so vicious to such an adorable, well–behaved
child?!
Especially when he was her own flesh and blood!
Madonna gently released him. “Grandma is going to wash her face. I’ll come back and play with you in a minute.”
“Okay!”
Jasper nodded enthusiastically.
He then looked past her, his voice brightening with sheer joy as he spotted the group walking in. “Uncle Lance! Auntie!”
He threw his arms open, wriggling his little body in an attempt to hug Lance, but the housekeeper gently held him back.
“Young master, please don’t move around. Sir is coming right over.”
Chapter 707
“What happened to Uncle Lance’s eyes?” Jasper asked in confusion, pointing at his own eyes.
Guided by Nathalie, Lance reached the sofa. He reached out, his hand finding Jasper, and gently patted the boy’s head. “My eyes got hurt. I can’t see for a little while. Are you going to protect Uncle Lance?”
“Yes!”
Jasper’s voice puffed up with pride. “I’m a big boy now! I’ll protect Uncle Lance!”
He quickly turned his head toward Nathalie. “And Auntie!”
Nathalie stared down at his delicate, innocent face. His features strongly resembled Jackson’s, but there was also a distinct similarity to Lance.
He was no longer the timid, overly sensitive boy he used to be. He had blossomed into a genuinely bright, lively child.
Without Felice’s toxic shadow looming over him, he was growing happier and much braver at expressing himself.
She reached out and softly stroked his hair.
Jasper’s eyes lit up like stars. He practically threw his little body sideways, crashing straight into Nathalie’s embrace.
Nathalie stiffened uncontrollably.
Her hand froze mid–air.
The housekeeper smiled warmly. “The young master really missed you.”
“Yes, yes!” Jasper nodded vigorously against Nathalie’s chest. “I missed Auntie so, so much.”
He wrapped both his arms around her tightly. “Missed Auntie.”
Nathalie remained stiff, but after a long pause, she reached out and gently tugged on Lance’s sleeve.
