Lance rested his forehead against hers, his breathing heavy as he gave a low hum of agreement.

Nathalie left the master bedroom and went downstairs to the living room, immediately texting Freddy.

Freddy: [Sure, I’ll set it up with Dr. Adler.]

Freddy: [Is your voice really getting better?]

Nathalie typed, “Where do you want to go?”

“I’ve been cooped up at your place ever since I got to Cabinda,” Elara said. “I haven’t really been out to explore. Even just wandering around a mall would be fine. I mostly just need

some fresh air.”

Nathalie nodded, thinking that was perfectly reasonable.

But Lance spoke up. “You two go. Just have the driver drop me off back home.”

“Don’t be like that,” Elara shot back instantly. “You need to get some exercise, too. Staying locked up in the house all day is depressing.”

“I exercise every single day,” Lance replied coolly.
