The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 85

His rough palm slid over the soft skin at her waist, and she couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through her.

She tried to fight him off even harder. The passenger seat was way too small for all this, and with him leaning over her, holding her down, she could barely move anymore. Her lips tingled, numb from his kiss. Her eyes flashed with anger, but there was a flush there too.

Once he realized she’d stopped resisting, Lance’s kisses turned gentle. He whispered, his lips brushing against hers, “Come back to Lumina Grand with me. Let’s start fresh, okay?”

Nathalie blinked, her eyes shining with unshed tears, but she kept her chin up, determined not to let them fall.

“Alright,” she said, her voice steady.

Lance’s whole body tensed. He was about to smile, but Nathalie kept going. “But you can’t go see Jasper anymore. You can’t even go near Felice. If she’s around, I want you as far away from her as possible.”

Lance frowned. “Jasper is Jackson’s only kid. I’ve watched him grow up since day one…”

Before he could finish, her hand shot up. The slap wasn’t loud, but the sting behind it was clear. She was tired from struggling and didn’t have much strength left, but her anger hadn’t faded at all.

“Don’t you dare bring that up,” she snapped, her eyes sharp. “I don’t need you reminding me, over and over, that you never missed a single moment with Felice. You were there for everything. Everything.”

“You’re wrong about that.” Lance pressed his tongue to his cheek, swallowing down his anger. “It’s just because of Jasper. I’ve never cared about anyone else the way I care about you.”

She took a shaky breath. “Well, I don’t want you anymore. Once someone cheats, there’s no going back.”

“I didn’t cheat.”

“Doesn’t matter,” Nathalie said, scoffing. “You acted in a way nobody could trust. No one can look at what you did and believe you and Felice are just friends.”

Lance’s eyes turned icy as he turned to see who it was. Standing on the other side was Fabian, staring at the car curiously. The privacy tint meant he couldn’t see what was happening inside, but he had a pretty good idea.

Lance moved back into the driver’s seat and rolled down the window. “You need something?”

Fabian looked surprised, glancing from Lance to Nathalie. “Actually, I was just about to ask if you two needed help. Why’d you stop the car here?”

He took in Lance’s tense face, then Nathalie’s flushed cheeks and tear-bright eyes, her lips a deep, kiss-swollen red. It didn’t take much to guess what had just happened.

Suddenly looking awkward himself, Fabian cleared his throat. “Um… maybe I shouldn’t have interrupted?”

Lance gave him an unimpressed look. “You think?”
