Chapter 255 An Unwelcome Offer
Larissa let out a soft, cold laugh.
Why would he pour me a drink? Is this a test? Is he suspicious of something?
No, that seemed unlikely.
Finished
She lifted the glass and drained it in one smooth swallow. “Looking forward to working together,” she said.
During dinner, Wesley made several attempts to start a conversation. He brought up different topics and asked a few casual questions, clearly trying to keep things friendly. But Larissa remained distant. Her replies were short and polite. She gave him nothing to work with.
Then the restaurant doors suddenly opened. A group of people walked in. At the front was Alvin. Floria and Danny followed behind him, along with several other members of their family.
The moment they noticed Larissa, they headed straight toward her. One after another, they greeted her warmly.
Some offered apologies that sounded sincere. Others were obviously flattering her, hoping to win her favor.
Every one of them wanted a share of the Everreach development project.
Larissa’s gaze moved between Alvin and Floria. Once again, the two of them had arrived together. Side by side, just like always.
If that wasn’t a couple, what was?
But if Alvin really had something going on with Floria, then why had he kept dragging her into his life before?
Thinking back carefully, Alvin had never actually said who he liked.
But he had never denied liking her either.
Whenever he treated her coldly, she had simply assumed that was how he treated everyone.
His voice was always soft when he spoke to Floria.
The more Larissa thought about it, the more irritated she became. At that moment, she truly felt like punching both of them.
She let out another faint, mocking laugh.
Alvin stepped forward and looked at the masked woman sitting before him.
“Hi, Alvin Bennett,” he said calmly. “I represent the Bennetts. Congratulations on winning the Everreach project. I was hoping we might have the opportunity to cooperate.”
Before Larissa could respond, Wesley spoke first.
“Sorry,” he said coolly. “We have already agreed to develop Everreach together. The partnership is set. There are no remaining shares to offer.”
Alvin’s expression immediately stiffened. He was upset. Only then did he notice Wesley sitting beside her.
Him again. Why did this man always show up at the worst possible time?
And why did he seem to be involved in everything?
Looking at the two of them now, they seemed oddly comfortable with each other.
What exactly was their relationship?
And who was this mysterious woman?
After all, anyone who could casually pull out 60 billion dollars was far from ordinary. Few could pull that off from the whole wide world.
Wesley had somehow made a move and secured the partnership.
But Alvin refused to believe the door was completely closed. There had to be room to negotiate.
He spoke again, “If you choose to cooperate with me, I promise that our offer will be far more generous than whatever he has given you.”
Larissa smiled faintly, the mockery in her eyes impossible to miss.
“Mr. Bennett, you seem very confident. What makes you think I would give up my partnership with Mr. Robinett for the benefits you’re offering?”
She paused slightly before adding calmly, “And besides, Mr. Robinett and I have already signed a contract.”
Alvin’s fists tightened. He had introduced himself and revealed his family name, but she still showed him no respect at all.
Floria stood nearby, watching the exchange with a darkening expression. She hadn’t expected this woman to treat her brother this rudely.
Anyone who disrespected Alvin deserved consequences.
