Chapter 35 Chosen
Leonard turned to Larissa, concern written all over his face. “What happened?”
The scene felt painfully familiar.

Back when she lived with the Turners, Julia had used the same trick to frame her. Morris had believed Julia’s clumsy acting every single time and scolded Larissa.
She was the victim but always ended up apologizing.
Larissa watched the familiar scene coldly.
“I hit her,” she said flatly. “Because she deserved it. I won’t apologize.”
“Mr. Sowle, you heard her. She admitted it,” the intern said with a smug smile.
Leonard crouched down and helped the secretary to her feet.
I know it. Mr. Sowle would definitely protect me.
After all, he personally handpicked me as the intern.
How could that little slut compare to me?
Her smugness lasted less than a second. Leonard swung his hand and struck her across the face. “Get out!”
Larissa stared in shock.
What just happened? Aren’t I supposed to be the one being kicked out?
“Mr. Sowle, why did you hit me?”
The intern covered her face, looking wronged.
“Still here?” Leonard said coldly. “Do you want me to have someone drag you out?”
The door closed again.
Leonard turned to his daughter. “You don’t need to apologize,” he said gently. “Are you okay? Does your hand hurt?”
He had clearly felt that something was off with her emotion earlier.
If he had handled this wrong, the tiny bit of trust she had just started to feel for him would be

gone.
I did the right thing, right? I had probably passed her test.
This was the first time in Larissa’s life that someone had chosen her so firmly.
“You’re not going to ask why I hit her?” she asked quietly.
“There’s no need,” Leonard said without hesitation. “You said she deserved it. You’re my daughter. I will stand on your side, no matter what.”
He looked at her firmly.
“Right or wrong doesn’t matter. What matters is that my daughter is never bullied.
“Next time someone provokes you, hit back. You’re my princess, and you get to do whatever you want in Marcrest.”
Larissa’s eyes turned red. She lowered her head. “Thank you, Dad. I understand.”
“Go on and keep playing,” Leonard said. “I need to take care of something. We’ll go home together later.”
Leonard went to another office and asked his assistant to pull up the security footage. After watching the full recording, he gave his orders.
“Send her packing; she doesn’t need to come tomorrow. Also, make it known across Marcrest that she’s blacklisted.
“Any company that hires her is declaring war on Sowle Group.”
“But Mr. Sowle,” the assistant reminded, “you personally recruited that intern. Her performance has been very good.”
He honestly didn’t know how she had managed to offend Leonard this badly.
“So what?” Leonard said coolly. “She is capable, but this company never lacks talented people, especially not someone who doesn’t know her place.
“I gave her extra chances because she reminded me of the daughter I lost. I thought work had been hard for her out there. I hoped my daughter would one day meet someone willing to recognize her talent too.
“But she crossed a line she never should have crossed. She set her sights where she didn’t belong, and worse, she bullied my daughter.”
After giving his instructions, Leonard went to find Larissa and brought her home.
