After ordering their food, Larissa took the chance to gently hold Ruby’s wrist and check her pulse.
Ruby had a heart condition.
Whenever she got anxious or worried, sharp pain would spread across her chest.
It had been like this for at least ten years.
If the attacks kept happening, she would not live more than five years.
Since returning home, Larissa had never taken the initiative to care about anyone else in the family.
She had always seen herself as an outsider, just a temporary visitor.
That way, when she left in six months, she would not feel attached.
So she had never tried to understand her family’s situation.
But the longer she stayed with them, the more her heart was pulled in.
Like now. Her biological mother was so angry and worried for her that it triggered chest pain.
“Mom,” Larissa asked softly, “How long have you had this chest pain? When did it start? What usually triggers it? Are you taking any medicine?”
This was the first time Ruby had heard her daughter call her “Mom.” It meant Larissa had accepted her as her mother.
Ruby grabbed Larissa’s hands tightly, tears filling her eyes from happiness.
It took her a few minutes to calm down. She did not expect her daughter to know how to check a pulse. Not wanting Larissa to worry, she forced a smile.
“I’m fine,” Ruby said. “It only hurts sometimes when I’m worried. Most of the time, I feel
normal. Don’t worry, sweetie. Having you back is the best medicine for me.”
Ruby had seen top doctors all over the world. None of them could cure her completely, unless they found the Wonder Doctor.
But the Wonder Doctor was almost impossible to find.
Her eldest son was still waiting for that same doctor to save his life.

As long as Ruby stayed calm, her heart would not hurt.
Larissa knew her mother was treating her like a child.
That made sense. Who would believe that the legendary Wonder Doctor, the one said to bring the dying back to life, was actually her? A seventeen–year–old girl.
But now that she had discovered it, she would cure her mother.
“Mom,” Larissa said seriously, “when we get back, I’ll make some medicine for you. I promise your chest pain won’t come back. You’ll live a long, healthy life.”
Ruby thought her daughter was just worried and joking to comfort her.
She never imagined that the daughter she had just found was the Miracle Doctor they had searched for so desperately.
“I know,” Ruby said gently. “I understand my condition. As long as you’re healthy, that’s enough
for me.”
Larissa did not explain herself.
Soon, the food arrived. After the meal, Ruby returned to the company. Once Ruby left, Larissa got into a taxi and headed in the opposite direction.
The taxi stopped in front of a tall office building.
Larissa stepped out with a black backpack on her shoulders. She wore a cap and chewed gum casually as she walked straight into the building. She entered the private CEO elevator.
The elevator did not stop until the top floor.
She walked directly into the CEO’s office.
No one would have guessed that Larissa, only 17 years old, was the real boss behind Everwell Pharma.
Everwell Pharma was one of the world’s top pharmaceutical groups.
And Larissa was the true owner behind it all.
