Chapter 432 Side Story: The Rescue Mission (Part Two)
Minutes in, and a person couldn’t breathe.
Without immediate treatment, they would die in under an hour.
The medic was everyone’s only hope.
Watching that first soldier collapse had shoved every person in that cabin face-to-face with the real possibility of dying on this op.
Every one of them was shaken.
The medic stabilized the patient on oxygen, but the pathogen was still in his system.
Only a working antidote was going to bring him all the way back.
The medic got straight to work on synthesizing one, his face grim.
Every minute they delayed, the rest of the world was in more danger.
Nesley pulled in a long breath, pushed down the fear rising in his own chest, and spoke with perfect composure.
‘Stay calm. We will have an antidote. Until we do, everyone puts on a mask and seals off from the air.”
The tension eased a notch, and people started moving.
Wesley walked over to Larissa and murmured, “Be careful out there.”
.arissa nodded. She pulled a bottle of universal antidote pills from her pocket and pressed it into his hand.
‘These are mine, my own formula. One per person. They’ll counter this.”
Then, lightly, she added, “Just remember to pay me. A single universal antidote pill hits 5 million at auction:
‘This bottle has 100 in it. You do the math on what you owe me.
‘I’m taking a squad out now to scout the approach.”
Wesley stared at the pills, his gaze a’mix of awe and affection. As expected of the legendary Dr. Sowle, her work was always
peerless.
A tiny bottle like this was worth half a billion.
And a drug this valuable almost never actually made it to market.
People with money wanted to buy them. They couldn’t, because there was nowhere to buy them from.
But his wife pulled 100 of them out of her pocket.
Pride, somehow, was the word that came to mind.
He was about to order them distributed.

The field medic stopped him.
“Major Robinett, what are you doing? What is this? You’re going to poison them.
“Even I can’t synthesize an antidote to this pathogen. Who else could have?”
The medic’s skepticism set off the rest of the cabin.
“Is the medic right? What do we do? I want to go home. Let us go home.”
“I knew Smeana’s strength was too good to be true. This is some kind of recruitment scam. Well, I’m not falling for it.”
“My stomach’s starting to hurt. What do I do?”
Larissa raised a brow without even a trace of concern.
They could take the antidote or not. It wasn’t her problem anymore.
But her squad-every single one of them-respected her absolutely.
They swallowed their pills without hesitation.
And one by one, they started defending her.
