Chapter 48 Trap in the Nightmare
Russ nodded at once. “Thank you, Mr. Robinett, for being willing to help.”

Five minutes later, Larissa arrived at Windermere Hills in disguise. She wore a black leather jacket and black pants. Sunglasses covered her eyes, and she chewed gum. She looked like a careless young man in his early twenties.
No one would guess that this thuggish–looking youth was the famous and mysterious Wonder Doctor.
Wesley had prepared fruit and all kinds of snacks in advance.
“Take a look. See if there’s anything you like,” he said politely. “It’s my honor to host the Wonder Doctor.”
Larissa paused for a second. Is Mr. Robinett treating me like a kid?
She picked up a large strawberry and took a bite. “Thanks. This one is sweet.”
Wesley watched her eat with clear enjoyment. For some reason, it filled him with joy.
So the Wonder Doctor liked sweet fruit like strawberries, just like a girl.
Maybe young people all liked the same things.
“Mr. Robinett, let’s begin,” Larissa said. “May I walk around your house first? The environment matters a lot during hypnosis.”
She finished the strawberry and went straight to the point.
Wesley felt this matched the way the Wonder Doctor spoke–short and direct.
He seemed like a simple person. Someone easy to get along with.
Following her request, Wesley led her into a room. The room was plain and clean. White walls. Yellow curtains. Soft orange lighting. Light gray floors.
There were only two couches inside.
“This is good. We’ll use this room,” Larissa said with a nod.
Wesley followed behind her.
Just like before, he caught a faint herbal scent on her.
It felt calming and comfortable.
“What kind of cologne do you use?”
The question slipped out before he could stop himself.
Larissa was preparing her tools and froze for a moment.

“Cologne? I don’t wear any. I work with herbs a lot, so the smell probably comes from that. Does it smell bad?”
As she spoke, she quietly took a step away from Wesley.
Seriously? Does he have the nose of a hunting dog? Why was he sniffing me like that?
I have to be careful. A sharp man like Wesley is not easy to fool.
Wesley had only meant that the scent felt pleasant. He hadn’t expected to make her uneasy.
“Don’t mind it, Wonder Doctor,” he said. “I was just making conversation.”
Larissa nodded calmly. “Mr. Robinett, please sit here.”
Wesley followed her instruction and sat down.
