He looked as if he wanted to say something, but faced with Jenna's ecstatic expression, he simply murmured:
"As long as you like it."
As for the ring, he figured he could just buy Chloe an even more expensive one later...
"Preston, you are way too good to me!"
Preston had practically given her the ring in front of an audience. What better proof of his devotion did she need?
The thought made her smile so wide her cheeks hurt. She couldn't hide the absolute triumph in her eyes as she looked at Chloe.
Suddenly, she noticed something and gasped loudly.
"Oh wow, Chloe, is that a ruby necklace around your neck?"
Her loud comment instantly drew the entire crowd's attention to Chloe.
Resting against her delicate, luminous neck was a ruby pendant. It looked like a vibrant crimson petal resting on pure snow—breathtaking and utterly mesmerizing.
Someone in the crowd immediately scoffed.
"That's barely a ruby. It's obviously a fake!"
"Exactly! You can't even compare it to Miss Cameron's ring. That ring is an unheated vintage stone, personally cut by Master Sylvain. It's a flawless masterpiece!"
Jenna feigned innocence. "Oh? Really?"
She lunged forward and grabbed the ruby pendant around Chloe's neck. "You really shouldn't wear fakes. How much did you pay for this? Did someone scam you?"
She pulled hard, yanking the chain as if she wanted to rip it straight off Chloe's throat.
Suddenly, her hand was forcefully slapped away.
"Ah!"
Jenna cried out, releasing the necklace and stumbling backward.
Preston instinctively reached out and caught her. She immediately buried her face in his chest, playing the victim.
"It's fine, Preston! I just lost my balance. Chloe didn't mean to do it!"
The crowd hadn't seen exactly what happened, but Jenna's preemptive strike successfully painted Chloe as the aggressor.
