Jenna suddenly picked up her bag from the chair beside her and smiled brightly.
"Mr. Shaw, it's too crowded over there. Come sit with me!"
Quentin didn't even glance at her. His long, elegant fingers gripped his fork, transferring a piece of food to Chloe's plate.
Jenna's smile froze, humiliation washing over her.
She glared resentfully at Chloe. Just as she was about to speak, Preston cut in.
"Jenna."
He placed a slice of salmon sashimi on her plate. "Eat first."
"Wow, thank you! You're so sweet to me!"
Jenna's voice was exaggeratedly loud as she instinctively glanced at Chloe.
Unfortunately, Chloe was too busy talking to Quentin to even notice.
Jenna bit into the salmon with unnecessary force.
Preston's expression remained dark and unreadable.
The others at the table racked their brains for conversation topics, trying every trick in the book to suck up to Chloe.
"Are you an actress, Ms. Reed? You're even more beautiful than a movie star!"
"Ms. Reed, I have a few VIP cards for a top-tier luxury spa. I'd be honored if you'd accept them."
"Ms. Reed carries herself with such calm elegance. You can tell at a glance she's meant for great things."
Chloe quietly ate her meal, her movements graceful and relaxed. From start to finish, she didn't acknowledge a single person.
Right then, Quentin spoke up in a cool tone.
"It's best to keep quiet while eating."
As soon as the words left his mouth, everyone awkwardly snapped their mouths shut.
The rest of the meal passed in a tense, cautious atmosphere.
After dinner, Jenna used the excuse of going to the restroom to chase after Quentin.
"Mr. Shaw! Mr. Shaw, wait!"
"Don't use being straightforward as an excuse for being vicious. Malice is malice. Don't insult the word 'tomboy'."
Tears instantly welled in Jenna's eyes as she looked up at him, overwhelmed with grievances.
"Mr. Shaw... did Chloe say something about me? I know she doesn't like me, but you can't just..."
Quentin suddenly took a step forward, the sheer predatory dominance rolling off him cutting her off instantly.
"If you ever say another bad word about Chloe, I guarantee you'll never have the chance to speak again."
His voice was flat, as if he were stating a simple fact, but the frozen depths of his eyes held zero room for a joke.
Jenna shuddered.
Primal fear gripped her throat, rendering her speechless. She didn't dare stay a second longer.
Walking back from the restroom around the corner of the corridor, Chloe happened to catch the sight of Jenna rushing away from Quentin in a panic.
Her expression shifted slightly.
At that moment, Quentin turned, noticed her, and walked over.
