The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 3

The furious patient hesitated, clearly rattled.

"You mean... Mr. Hayes from Vantage Group?"-

The suited man tilted his chin up, sneering. "Glad you're not totally clueless. Know your place. Sign the paper, take the cash, and recover quietly. Don't make things ugly for yourselves."

A heavy silence fell over the room. People exchanged uneasy glances, swallowing their pride as they reluctantly signed the NDAs.

Just then, a cold, unwavering female voice sliced through the tension.

"You claim Miss Cameron is Mr. Hayes's wife. Does Mr. Hayes know about this?"

Every head snapped toward the bed in the farthest corner.

The woman sitting there was slender and pale, but her amber eyes held a terrifyingly calm intensity.

Her commanding presence was so sharp that the suited man actually faltered for a second, momentarily wondering if she was someone important.

But he quickly brushed it off with a scoff.

She didn't even have a single friend or family member with her. She was just a nobody.

Chloe locked eyes with him, her words ringing out with absolute certainty.

"Mr. Hayes's reputation is spotless. His philanthropic work is highly publicized. Who gave you the right to throw his name around while acting like a cartel, dragging Vantage Group's name through the mud?"

Preston had built Vantage Group from nothing. Through sheer grit and brilliance, he skyrocketed to the top, becoming the industry's most formidable titan.

The public only saw the glossy magazine covers and the billion-dollar valuations. But Chloe knew exactly how much blood, sweat, and bitter compromise went into building his empire.

He needed to prove himself to his powerful family, and she had stood by his side, supporting him every step of the way.

Regardless of his relationship with the arsonist, and regardless of why his name was on those checks, Chloe refused to believe he would stoop to such mafia tactics. He would never let anyone tarnish Vantage's legacy.

The man burst out laughing, his face twisted in open mockery.

"Listen to you! You sound like you actually know the guy! Who the hell do you think you are, lecturing me?"
