"Chloe, that Jenna Cameron is back. She's in the conference room right now, and she's being an absolute..."
Lydia Moore complained, her brows knitting together the moment she spotted Chloe.
The trauma from the previous incident had left Lydia deeply shaken; just the sight of Jenna was enough to make her skin crawl.
Chloe didn't look surprised. "I know."
"She's crossing the line!" Lydia burst out, unable to hold it in. "Do you have any idea what she's saying about you behind your back? She's parading around, acting like she owns the place just because she's Dr. Sharpe's assistant. It's disgusting!"
Chloe offered a reassuring smile. "For all we know, she could be gone by tomorrow. She isn't worth your energy."
The two made their way upstairs.
Even before they reached the interpretation booths, Jenna's exaggerated, shrill voice echoed down the hall.
"What? You've got to be kidding me. Chloe Reed is interpreting for Dr. Sharpe?"
Her sharp, mocking laughter rang out, dripping with unabashed disdain.
"Oh my god, I haven't heard a joke this good in ages! Chloe? The girl can only hear out of one ear. The fact that she even got into the Sterling Interpretation Institute blew my mind. And now she's supposed to interpret for someone else? For Dr. Sharpe, no less? Has the whole world gone insane?"
Isabella Sylvain sat on the plush sofa. She didn't say a word, but a cold, imperceptible smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
The conference room was already dotted with spectators, many of them eager for some drama and desperate to win Isabella's favor.
Andrea Vance, sitting right up front, immediately chimed in.
"Right? But what can you do when some people are just so good at kissing up and pulling strings? She even managed to get Dr. Sharpe to personally select her. Thank god Ms. Sylvain actually has real talent. If it were anyone else, we'd just have to let Chloe walk all over us with zero recourse."
Jenna let out a bizarre scoff, the floodgates now completely open as she raised her voice.
"I know her type! She's exactly that kind of person! A desperate social climber. Women like her, who are obsessed with scheming and manipulating, are absolute vipers!"
Pivoting toward Isabella, Jenna practically glowed with fake warmth.
"Don't you worry. Now that I know what's going on, I'll make sure to warn Dr. Sharpe about her when I get back so she doesn't get tricked... You're going to crush her, Ms. Sylvain. Honestly, Chloe is totally incompetent. Just hearing about this match made me laugh out loud! Trust me, she doesn't stand a chance against you!"
