He had always believed she never loved him.
That was why he had done what he did with Millie.
All his reckless actions were based on the assumption that she didn't love him.
A heavy weight settled in Alexander's chest.
He lowered his gaze, a storm of emotions—pain, regret, and unwillingness—swirling in his eyes, threatening to drown him. He clutched his chest, feeling an invisible hand squeeze his heart so tightly that his vision began to blacken. He slowly sank to a crouch, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a violent cough surged up his throat. He instinctively covered his mouth, hacking intensely.
"Mr. Davidson!" Nash, who had been following at a distance, saw him and rushed over, his face etched with worry. "Are you alright?"
Alexander waved him off, signaling that he didn't need help. When the coughing finally subsided, he slowly opened his hand. A shocking stain of red bloomed on his palm—blood.
Nash's face paled, his voice trembling. "Mr. Davidson, you're coughing up blood! We have to get you to a hospital!"
Alexander looked at the blood on his hand with a terrifying calmness, as if it were a common occurrence. He wiped his palm with a tissue, slowly stood up, and shook his head. "It's an old problem. It's nothing."
"Let's go home."
"Mr. Davidson…" Nash panicked, lunging to get his phone back.
But Alexander tossed it onto the adjacent seat, his voice as cold as ice. "If you ever do something you're not supposed to again, you're fired."
The simple sentence, delivered with unquestionable authority, froze Nash in place. He looked at Alexander's pale but determined face, and a surge of frustration and anger washed over him. "Mr. Davidson, why are you being so stubborn? Look at the state of your health! If you don't go to the hospital, something terrible is going to happen!"
Alexander closed his eyes again, ignoring his subordinate's outburst. He leaned back against the seat, his breathing slightly ragged.
Seeing him like this, Nash's eyes reddened, and his voice choked with emotion. "You've already given so much for Ms. Crawford, for investigating that old case! You're always protecting everyone else, but have you ever thought about yourself? Can't you live for yourself just once?"

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
