The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1422

"I'm going with you."

Danielle stood up immediately, her eyes filled with worry. "The situation out there is a mess. I can't let you go alone."

"No." Alexander didn't even have to think about it. He reached out and grasped her hand, his tone gentle but leaving no room for argument. "It's too dangerous. Harold is backed into a corner, and he'll do anything. Stay here in Ashford. Take care of Niki and hold down the fort. That's the best way you can help me."

He knew Danielle. She seemed soft-spoken, but she was fiercely stubborn. Still, there was no way he was letting her walk into a warzone.

Harold hated him to the core. If he caught even a glimpse of Danielle, he wouldn't hesitate to target her.

"But—" Danielle started, only to be cut off.

"No buts," Alexander said firmly. "Gian, Kirsten, I'm trusting you two to keep an eye on things here in Ashford. Especially Danielle's safety and Niki. I can't afford any mistakes."

"I'll be at the border for three days at most. If we don't catch Harold, I'll chase him overseas."

Gian nodded, his expression serious. "Don't worry, we've got it covered here. Watch your back out there, and let us know if anything goes sideways."

Kirsten also spoke up. "We'll take good care of Danielle. Just go, and please, be careful."

Seeing that Alexander had made up his mind, Danielle knew pushing the issue was useless. She gave a small nod.

"Then you have to promise to take care of yourself. Check in every day, and whether you catch him or not, come back in one piece."

"I will." Alexander leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, his eyes brimming with affection. "Wait for me."

Without another second of hesitation, he grabbed his jacket and strode out of the villa. He slipped into the waiting SUV, and it sped off into the night toward the border.

Danielle stood in the doorway, watching the taillights vanish into the darkness.

She took a deep breath and stepped back inside.
