She packed with a swift, practiced efficiency, as if she had been preparing for this all along.
Halfway through, her phone rang. It was Nash.
Danielle hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Miss Crawford, are... are you okay?" Nash’s voice was cautious. "Mr. Davidson… he has his reasons. Could you please give him another chance?"
Danielle managed a faint smile, her voice calm. "Mr. Langley, I've tried to move on, to forgive what happened in the past. But he hasn't even apologized. How am I supposed to just go to him and say I forgive him, that we should get back together?"
It would make her seem desperate.
She had made her feelings perfectly clear, and Alexander's rejection was just as obvious. Forcing herself back into his life would only be a burden to him.
After hanging up, Danielle placed the last of her clothes in her suitcase and zipped it shut.
She gazed at her sleeping daughter, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "Niki," she whispered, "Mommy's taking you home."
---
Danielle's flight was in the afternoon, but she had a work meeting first, so she left Niki with the nanny.
At the Aerospace Institute, Danielle sat at the head of the conference table, the technical documents for the drone project spread before her. Her fingers traced the dense columns of data, her focus so intense it seemed to block out the world.
The door opened and Harold walked in with his technical team. His black suit accentuated his tall frame, and his expression was all business; gone was his usual probing and testing, replaced by a cool professionalism.
"Chief Engineer Crawford, thank you for waiting."
After the meeting, they moved to the cafeteria for a working lunch. Over a simple meal, they exchanged a few words about the project, but nothing more.
Once they finished, Danielle stood to leave. "Mr. Chapman, I need to go pack. My flight back to Nexus Prime is this afternoon."
"Of course. Have a safe trip."
Harold rose to see her off. His eyes lingered on her pale face for a moment, but he refrained from saying anything more, simply watching as she walked out of the restaurant.
Danielle stood by the curb waiting for a taxi, unconsciously rubbing the phone case in her hand. It featured a family portrait Niki had drawn, a sight that now felt painfully sharp.
Just then, a white car pulled up nearby, and the door opened. Raffy hopped out.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
