When Stella didn’t answer, Derrick looked up from his phone and glanced at her.

She was staring intently at the TV, as if she had discovered something incredible.

Derrick walked over and stood behind her, following her gaze.

He took out his phone. It was Sebastian calling.

He answered. “Are you dead yet?”

“Derrick, you’re incredibly cruel.”

“Get to the point,” Derrick said.

“Mr. Abraham wants to trade me for Ms. Dawson.”

Derrick raised his eyebrows. “And he thinks you’re worth it?”

Derrick said nothing, lit a cigarette, took two puffs, then looked lazily at Stella.

Then he hung up.

Derrick turned and walked over to Stella. “Before you left for Rivermount, do you remember what I told you?”

She didn’t answer. He’d asked her the same thing back in Pagena.

“You’re my fiancée. I’m coming to get you.”

As soon as she heard these words, she understood what he meant.

He wanted to return me to Abraham.
