The whole thing had left her so shaken, she practically shut down. And for a long time after, the nightmares didn’t stop.
Tessa had never experienced anything violent before. Her life had always been peaceful–until now. Everything suddenly flipped upside down. Of course she was overwhelmed.
Stella did her best to soothe her. “It’s okay, sweetheart, don’t cry. I promise you, Victor really won’t hurt you.”
He was scary enough when he wasn’t even talking–just standing there with that cold look on his face was enough to make
anyone nervous.
But Abraham had personally asked Victor to take care of her. There was no way he wouldn’t protect Tessa.
That’s the only reason Stella had felt safe letting her stay with him.
What she hadn’t expected was that Tessa would keep running into trouble even under Victor’s watch.
It was
was already hard enough for Tessa to cope with her world suddenly thrown into chaos–and all these accidents just made things even worse.
Espécially since those accidents were…
Forget it.
Once she got back, the first thing she’d do was bring Tessa to her side.
Tessa sniffled. “Really?”
“Yeah, really. Nothing else is going to happen. My flight’s tonight–you’ll see me tomorrow morning.”
She’d originally meant to say, “If nothing goes wrong, we’ll see each other tomorrow morning.”
But Stella held back.
Tessa was especially sensitive to the phrase “if nothing goes wrong” right now. Because usually, when someone said that, something did go wrong.
Please, let this return to Falvaria go smoothly this time.
Tessa’s heart couldn’t take much more.
“Okay… I’ll wait for you. You really better not run into anything,” Tessa said between hiccuped sobs.
Stella smiled. “Okay. No more surprises.”
But the truth was–there was no way to be sure.
If something happened with Abraham again, she’d be caught up in it too.
Still, there was no way she could say that to Tessa right now.
She even considered, if something did go wrong again today with Abraham, maybe she should just go back alone.
Tessa seemed a little more at ease now that Stella had promised her. “Alright. I’ll wait for you. Come back early tomorrow.”
“I will.”
“And come straight to me when you land. I don’t want to stay here with him anymore. I don’t ever want to see him again.”
What kind of mess had she gotten into now? Poor girl sounded absolutely traumatized.
“What did you do this time?”
The first time, she’d smacked Victor with his belt buckle. Then she’d yanked off his towel. And now what? What had she done this time?

Judging from her tone, something major had definitely happened again.
Wait–was it the cold compress from last night?

Before Tessa could answer, Stella jumped in. “Hold on. When you were trying to cool him down last night, don’t tell me you…”
She paused, then cleared her throat awkwardly. “Don’t tell me you stripped him and got caught doing it?”
What else could have scared her this badly?
The line went completely silent. Not even a sniffle from Tessa.
Stella sucked in a breath. “Wait–it’s true?”
No way.
It was just a fever!
Victor might not know any better as a guy, but Tessa?
Wait a second… “Does that mean you…?”
If she’d actually stripped Victor down-
Forget getting scared. Victor had every reason to be furious.
Tessa’s mind flashed back to the moment Victor grabbed her wrist last night. She sniffled.
“Don’t talk nonsense. I’m not that dumb.”
Stella blinked. “Huh?”
“I didn’t strip him all the way. I just… I couldn’t look, and I kind of missed the spot when I was wiping him, and I accidentally touched… something I shouldn’t have. Can we not talk about it?”
Honestly, even thinking about it now was mortifying.
Victor had refused to let Stella send a maid. His people wouldn’t even pick up the phone.
What else was she supposed to do? She had no choice but to keep her eyes shut and do her best to lower his fever.
Stella twitched at the corner of her mouth. “So… you touched something you weren’t supposed to? Did Victor notice?”
I said don’t ask!
Why was she so nosy?
“He grabbed my wrist right after. What do you think?”
Might as well come clean. It was Stella, after all.
Now it was Stella’s turn to freeze.
There was no need for more detail—she could already imagine just how awkward that scene must’ve been.
“So… is Victor mad at you?”
“He’s not mad about that.”

Ch 489 Doesn’t this prove that Dan doesn’t actually have amnesia? Why would he go to the island with a strange woman and why would he steal from Derrick? He doesn’t know them....
Ch 488 I feel like this is going to be what Stella stole in his study in Pagenda or wherever his estate was....
Ch 485 I thought it was going to be the Reed family mine that she robbed, thus taking the Keenes product and leaving them in that situation....
Ch 483 o then, how did the Reeds fine her? How did they not know where she was from?...
Ch 477 Definitely hidden pedo in here, referring to tiny women as little girls in every way possible....
Ch 468 How could Stella inherit her adopted father’s weak stomach constitution?...
Ch 468 Abraham and Marie’s mother has been called Evelyn, Diane and Loretta.. which is it? Evelyn has been the most used....
Ch 465 She still doesn’t know the mistress is Lillian’s aunt?...
Ch 464 Why didn’t she kick her out herself be for she went to attack the mistress…...
Ch 463 This is stupid now. I understand being scared in his presence enough to not think straight, but she’s a lone more often than not and has plenty of time to think things through, especially if she has time to get gossip from Rivermount and report to Stella....
