Ever since she got pregnant, Stella found herself craving sweets–sweeter the better.

Abraham ignored her grumbling and kept peeling. “Of course it’s not sweet. I had them bring low–sugar grapes.”

“Why though? They’re not even good.” Her little mouth pouted in frustration.

She was really in the mood for something sugary.

“Pregnant women can’t have too much sugar. Be good.”

He fed her another grape anyway.

Stella chewed it reluctantly, visibly sulking. Seeing that pitiful expression, Abraham added, “Be good, alright?”

He couldn’t indulge her too much. If anything happened to her body, she’d be the one suffering.

Stella sniffled and said nothing.

Then her phone vibrated. She glanced at the caller ID–it was Tessa. She answered right away. “Tessa?”

“It’s me.”

Victor’s voice came through instead.

“Victor?” Stella blinked. “Why are you calling on Tessa’s phone?”

She instinctively glanced at Abraham.

“She’s running a fever.”

“What?”

Victor continued, “It’s mostly emotional.”

Wait a second… that response took a moment to register.

Half an hour later.

Abraham personally drove Stella to Victor’s villa. As she tried to rush out the moment the car stopped,

A doctor was briefing Victor. As they got closer, they could hear that it was about Tessa.

“Her emotional state’s too unstable. Her body can’t take it. We need to make sure the fever doesn’t climb any higher.”

“And her injuries need to be handled carefully. If they get infected…”

Victor didn’t look happy.

Lewis and Silas were nearby too.

When they heard Tessa was injured, both of them looked at Victor in confusion. Injured? When had that happened?

Victor had been protecting her fiercely ever since they started traveling together.

And his villa? It was the safest place in all of Falvaria.

They both froze when they saw Abraham.

Abraham took a seat on the couch. Victor sat across from him.

He took one drag, glanced at the marks on Victor’s neck, and said, “Didn’t I tell you not to get her involved?”

Ever since Tessa came to Falvaria, she’d turned to Stella for everything.

Normally, that would be fine. But the current situation was different–not just because Stella was pregnant, but because things underneath Falvaria were getting… restless.
