869 The Truth
Victor’s tone over the phone left no doubt—he had already recognized Stella’s voice the moment she spoke.

Tessa locked eyes with him. His gaze was steady and composed, yet beneath that calm surface lay something she couldn’t quite decipher. The phrase “blood feud” echoed relentlessly in her mind, tightening her chest with unease.
During her stay in Redwood, she had witnessed firsthand just how merciless Victor could be when it came to the Morris family. She was aware there was history between them, but she hadn’t grasped the full extent of it—how deep and bitter the animosity ran.
A feud so intense that it had wiped out an entire family? That was something far more severe than she’d ever imagined.
Thank goodness she wasn’t Dale’s daughter. If she had been, how could she ever face Victor again without fear or hesitation?
Tessa instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her cheek softly against his stomach. “It doesn’t matter,” she whispered. “Those people have nothing to do with me.”
Back when she still believed Dale was her father, she had been terrified of this side of Victor—afraid of what he might do once he discovered the truth. But that fear had faded.
Since her mother’s call, she found herself able to meet Victor’s gaze without flinching, no longer held hostage by uncertainty.
A new question suddenly surfaced in her mind.
“When everything happened between you and Dale… where was my mom?” Her voice trembled slightly, betraying her worry.
God, she hoped her mother hadn’t still been married to Dale during all that chaos.
Victor’s reply was steady, almost resigned. “By then, he was already married to Artemis.”
Tessa exhaled a long breath, relief washing over her like a warm tide.
So the bitter feud between Victor and that despicable Dale had nothing to do with her—or her mother.
Thank God.
Her mother had already endured enough pain being tied to Dale all those years.
“That’s good,” Tessa said quickly, the tension in her voice easing. “It has nothing to do with me.”
The weight that had been pressing down on her chest lifted completely, leaving her feeling relaxed and at peace.
Victor glanced down at her, noticing the flicker of relief that softened her expression. A faint, almost imperceptible smile curved the corners of his lips.
He reached out, his hand warm and gentle as it stroked the top of her head.

Manny shot Dan a furious glare, his eyes blazing as if daring him to say more.
“Shut up!” Artemis snapped. “This is all your fault—and Tessa’s! Don’t think I don’t know you’re working with Victor!”
Tension crackled in the air.
“You’ve always taken that woman’s side. You’ve hated me from the start! Even after all the years I raised you, you still hate me. Ungrateful bastard!”
Artemis had completely lost control.
With the DNA results only hours away, her nerves were stretched to their absolute limit.
The poised, graceful woman she once pretended to be was gone—replaced by someone wild, desperate, and broken.

Anyone who crossed her now risked becoming the target of her next outburst.
Dan let out a cold, sharp laugh. “Stop trying to pin this on me just to change the subject. The only thing that matters now is discovering who the real illegitimate child at Black Mountain is. Honestly, judging by how worked up you are, I think we already know the answer—whether the results come in or not.”

Ch 489 Doesn’t this prove that Dan doesn’t actually have amnesia? Why would he go to the island with a strange woman and why would he steal from Derrick? He doesn’t know them....
Ch 488 I feel like this is going to be what Stella stole in his study in Pagenda or wherever his estate was....
Ch 485 I thought it was going to be the Reed family mine that she robbed, thus taking the Keenes product and leaving them in that situation....
Ch 483 o then, how did the Reeds fine her? How did they not know where she was from?...
Ch 477 Definitely hidden pedo in here, referring to tiny women as little girls in every way possible....
Ch 468 How could Stella inherit her adopted father’s weak stomach constitution?...
Ch 468 Abraham and Marie’s mother has been called Evelyn, Diane and Loretta.. which is it? Evelyn has been the most used....
Ch 465 She still doesn’t know the mistress is Lillian’s aunt?...
Ch 464 Why didn’t she kick her out herself be for she went to attack the mistress…...
Ch 463 This is stupid now. I understand being scared in his presence enough to not think straight, but she’s a lone more often than not and has plenty of time to think things through, especially if she has time to get gossip from Rivermount and report to Stella....
