The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 606

Penelope took a deep breath. “Make your decision.”

In the end, Hans valued the shares. Although he couldn’t bear to see his son suffer, he agreed to the surgery. Judy and Yvonne cried and cursed Penelope for being heartless, but Penelope ignored them completely. The most important thing right now was Donald’s surgery. If he could just make it out of danger, everything she was enduring would be worth it.

The surgery did not go smoothly. The doctors issued several critical condition notices.

Each time a notice was delivered, the Bishops would hurl vicious insults at her.

“If my dad dies on that operating table, you’ll be the one who killed him!”

“Donald must regret ever acknowledging you as his daughter! You couldn’t even grant him his one wish to leave this world with dignity!”

“You’re just like your mother! Why do you both insist on harming my son?”

Penelope could have fought back with words even more vicious, but right now, she had neither the mood nor the energy. She, too, was in agony.

Was she really right to insist on this surgery for Donald?

If Donald were conscious, would he hate her for it?

When the doctor issued yet another critical condition notice, Penelope finally broke. She fled downstairs in a panic.

She huddled on a bench, her body and her heart trembling.

“Mommy!”

Before Penelope could react, Hubert had already thrown himself into her arms.

“Mommy, I haven’t seen you in two days! I missed you so much!”

As Penelope hugged Hubert, she looked up and saw Julian approaching. She pulled him into her embrace as well.

“I’m a little tired right now. Let me lean on you.”

Julian, who had been a little stiff and trying to pull away, immediately stood still when he heard her words. He even gently reached out to support her head.

“Why are you so tired? Didn’t you sleep well last night?”

“Yeah.”

“You haven’t been eating properly?”

Penelope managed a weak smile. “I’m probably not as cute as a stray dog or cat.”

Just then, Hans stormed over.

“Are you satisfied now, Penelope? You’ve killed my son!”

The words hit Penelope like a physical blow.

The surgery failed?

Donald didn’t make it?

“The Bishop family never did anything wrong to you or your mother, but you two keep hurting my son! I will not let you get away with it this time! I will make you pay a terrible price!”

Hans seemed to have lost his mind. He grabbed a shovel that had been left in a corner and swung it at Penelope.

Penelope was completely stunned, too shocked to even think about dodging. But just in time, someone rushed over and knocked Hans aside.

That person stood in front of her like a mountain, shielding her from all the harm in the world.
