Now, she was even more disgusted with him.
Penelope received two paternity test results, one for Yvonne and Jack, the other for Yvonne and Donald. When she saw the results, she wasn't surprised at all.
She glanced at the time. It was nine in the morning; the Bishop Group's shareholder meeting was about to begin.
With the reports in hand, she immediately drove to the Bishop Group headquarters.
She arrived just before ten but was stopped by the receptionist.
"Ms. Laurier, you are not welcome at the Bishop Group. Please leave immediately."
Penelope frowned. How did the receptionist know her name? She had never been here before.
"I need to see your CEO. Please let him know I have something important to give him."
The receptionist glanced at the file folder in Penelope's hand, asked her to wait, and stepped away to make a call.
"Ms. Laurier, the CEO has asked that you give the documents to me, and I will deliver them."
Penelope checked the time again. She couldn't afford any more delays, so she held out the folder. But just as the receptionist was about to take it, a thought struck her and she pulled it back.
"If I give this to you, will you really give it to your CEO?"
"Of course."
"But if you gave it to someone else, I'd never know, would I?"
The receptionist looked guilty. "Ms. Laurier, what are you implying?"
"Did Yvonne specifically tell you to stop me here?"
"Mr. Bishop didn't give me any instructions."
Penelope narrowed her eyes. Today's shareholder meeting was crucial for Yvonne; she wouldn't allow for any mistakes. It was entirely possible she'd instructed the receptionist to intercept her. So she couldn't trust anyone, she had to deliver this file to Hans herself.
But she couldn't just force her way in, not with all the security guards standing around.
Just as Penelope was wondering what to do, she spotted Jonas hurrying toward the elevators.
"They're two paternity tests."
"Paternity tests?"
Penelope sighed. "Your family wouldn't want the Bishop Group to fall into the hands of an outsider, would you?"
Five minutes later, led by Jonas, Penelope arrived outside the conference room. Hans was just about to enter when Penelope rushed forward to stop him.
The moment Hans saw her, his expression soured.
"Just as Yvonne said. You came to cause trouble today!"
"I'll only take five minutes of your time. After five minutes, if you still want to hold this meeting, I won't stop you."
"What trick are you trying to pull now?"
Penelope held up the folder. "I'm not pulling any tricks. I'm saving the Bishop family!"
