Hans took the folder doubtfully, pulled out the documents, and after a single glance, his face changed drastically. He forcefully shoved the papers back inside.
"Absurd!"
Penelope thought he was referring to Judy's actions, but then he turned his glare on her.
"You think I'll believe you based on a few pieces of paper?"
Penelope was speechless for a moment. "This is a paternity test from a highly reputable lab. You..."
"I don't believe a single word you say!"
Hans cut her off coldly, throwing the file at her. He then turned to enter the conference room again.
"I'm guessing my father was murdered because he found this out," Penelope said calmly.
Her words successfully stopped Hans in his tracks. Just then, Yvonne, sensing something was wrong, hurried out of the meeting room.
"Grandpa, why aren't you coming in?" she asked, then noticed Penelope and frowned. "Penelope, what do you want? Are you not happy until you've taken everything from me?"
Penelope had no interest in getting into a fight with Yvonne and blurring the issue. She pushed the folder back into Hans' hands, took a step back, and shrugged nonchalantly.
"Believe it or don't. This doesn't really have much to do with me. I've said my piece. I've done all I can do." Without giving Hans or Yvonne another chance to speak, Penelope turned and walked away.
Yvonne huffed. "I told you she'd come and make trouble. I was right."
She looked at Hans. "Grandpa, let's go in. The shareholders are waiting for you."
"So you don't want to continue trying to save him?"
"That's right. I want him to pass away peacefully, with dignity."
Hearing this, Hans tightened his grip on the folder. What was Penelope's last comment? That his son might have been harmed because he discovered Yvonne wasn't his daughter.
And it was true that Judy and Yvonne had been pushing to stop his son's treatment. They had almost convinced him. If Penelope hadn't intervened, his son would be a pile of ashes by now.
"Go tell the shareholders that today's meeting is canceled," Hans said.
Yvonne's eyes widened. "Grandpa, do you know what you're saying? How can you just cancel the shareholder meeting? You..."
"I said cancel it!" Hans snapped. "What, are you that impatient to take power from my hands?"
