The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 745

Judging by Linda's tone, something serious had definitely happened with Marico.

Theodore needed to return to Orenth immediately. But Marin was still passed out drunk, and Penelope didn't want to leave her alone in the hotel, so she decided not to travel back with him just yet.

"I've already sent a message to Ellison. He won't dare lay another finger on you, but." Theodore looked at Penelope, currently soft and pliable against his chest, yet perfectly capable of taking on four guys in an alley, and didn't know whether to be mad or amused. "But you can't be too reckless, either. Ellison is the CEO of Nexthrust. Even I have to give him a bit of professional courtesy."

Penelope nodded, promising that she would just stay with Marin and refrain from getting into any more direct altercations with Ellison.

But catching a specific detail in his words, she seized on it.

"You only give him a bit of courtesy?"

Theodore chuckled. "Courtesy is courtesy, no matter how small."

Penelope's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Well, then I know exactly how to handle him. I'll give him ten percent courtesy and ninety percent absolute hostility."

Theodore adored Penelope's fiercely vibrant personality. She was like the brightest, most radiant flower blooming in the sun. From the moment he met her, he had only ever wanted to protect that fiery spirit.

That was why, when she asked for a divorce, claiming that being with him was too agonizing, he had let her go. He possessed more than enough power to trap her by his side, but he couldn't bear to break her. If leaving him meant she could keep blooming so brightly, he would shoulder the pain and set her free.

Theodore pulled Penelope tight against his chest, pressing kisses against her forehead.

"You know I still hate you, right?"

Penelope's heart skipped a beat at those words. "So, is that why you were so rough with me earlier?"

"Did it hurt?"

"If you haven't gotten it out of your system, do you want to go another round?"

Theodore let out a huff. "You know damn well I have to leave right now."

"Then what did you mean by saying you hate me? Are you just using me and trying to avoid taking responsibility?"

"I meant that I still hold a grudge, but I'm giving you one more chance. Now that you've come back to me, if you ever dare run away again, watch out."

They ate at a restaurant near the hotel. Halfway through the meal, Marin received a call from her parents. They told her that Ellison had admitted his mistakes and begged them to convince Marin to forgive him this one time.

"You want me to forgive him, but did he mention the part where he cheated on me?"

"Marin, everyone makes mistakes. He realizes how badly he messed up, and he's always treated you well in the past. Just give your marriage one more chance," Marin's mom pleaded.

"It wasn't enough for him to bring her into his company, he had to bring her into our home to screw around."

"He..."

"I think he's filthy. Just looking at him makes me sick."

Marin's mom fell silent, and Marin's dad took over the call.

"I support you, sweetheart."

Marin's eyes reddened with tears. "Thanks, Dad."
