"Continuing his treatment is going to cost a fortune." Heather paused, and seeing Theodore's complete indifference, she shifted her desperate hopes onto Penelope. "Ms. Laurier, I'm willing to work as your maid, but I need an advance on my salary to cover Heath's medical bills. Please, I'm begging for your mercy."
Penelope raised an eyebrow. Telling her to be a maid had been an insult, but surprisingly, the girl had actually taken it seriously.
"Sure," Penelope agreed easily, immediately transferring a sum of money to her so she could pay the hospital.
Heather thanked her profusely before hurrying down to the first floor to settle the bill.
"Given how critical Heath's condition is, if that man is still alive, Heather will definitely find a way to contact him. We just need to keep a close eye on her."
Theodore exhaled sharply. "He better be alive."
Heather stayed at the hospital for two days to care for Heath. On the afternoon of the third day, she showed up at the villa, cleaned the house alongside the current maid, and helped prepare dinner.
After dinner, Theodore headed out for the evening. Penelope scrolled through her phone for a while before going to sleep.
She woke up in the middle of the night to noises coming from the adjacent study. Stepping out into the hallway, she saw the study door ajar. Inside, Heather was actively unbuttoning her shirt in front of Theodore, who had just sat down at his desk.
"Mr. Stapleton, I don't have anything else to offer you, so I want to give you myself. Don't worry, I won't cling to you, and I definitely won't say a word about this to Ms. Laurier."
She walked over to the desk and hoisted herself onto the edge, boldly putting herself on full display.
Theodore's face contorted with absolute disgust—the kind of revulsion where even speaking to her felt like a disease. "Get out."
Heather froze mid-sway. "Mr. Stapleton, please don't feel guilty. I promise whatever happens tonight stays between us. I..."
"Are you out of your mind?"
"..."
