Following that gaze across the crowded room, he saw the exact spot where Natalie was standing.

He frowned, turning to ask Jacob, "What else did you do that day, other than what happened with Gardenia?"

Jacob looked completely bewildered, his brow furrowing. "What else could I have possibly done? I didn't do anything! Hassan just snapped out of nowhere."

Marvin glanced at the rest of the group, who all looked equally lost. "Jacob really didn't do anything else that day. It was just Natalie making up some lie about Jacob having a crush on Gardenia and trying to steal her from Hassan. Later on, Jacob accidentally bumped into Gardenia, and Hassan just lost it and started throwing punches."

Marvin's eyes darkened. A gut feeling told him that Hassan's feelings toward Natalie were far more complicated than they appeared on the surface.

He was well aware of how desperate Natalie was for a divorce. The only reason it had dragged on this long was because Hassan refused to let her go.

But why?

Beside him, Jacob suddenly froze as if a thought had just hit him. He frowned in disbelief. "No way."

Marvin looked over. "What's no way?"

Jacob muttered, "It couldn't possibly be because I insulted Natalie, right? Because other than that, I literally didn't do a single thing."

"Definitely not. Hassan has never gotten mad at me over something like that before."

Marvin looked back toward Hassan.

Hassan had already pulled his gaze away from Natalie and was now comfortably engaged in conversation with Gardenia.

Marvin stood up, wine glass in hand, and started walking over.

Jacob called out, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to have a chat with Hassan, try to smooth things over for the two of you."

Jacob looked down. "Hmph. Unless he tells me exactly why he randomly lost his temper, there's no way our relationship is going back to how it was."

"Is that so?"

Jude Sheridan walked over with a smirk, his black button-down shirt only accentuating that wicked, dangerous aura of his.

Jude leaned back against the sofa, lighting a cigarette and taking a slow drag. "I can't be bothered to make up with him. The guy is out of his mind. Things are perfectly fine the way they are."

Jacob frowned. "We're in public. You know Gardenia hates the smell of smoke."

Jude sneered. "Hassan smokes too, doesn't he? And she still follows him around like a lost puppy."

Marvin looked up. "If you quit smoking for love, maybe Gardenia would actually look your way."

Jude let out a soft scoff. "I prefer to use other methods."

With that, his eyes locked onto Natalie, and he stood up to walk toward her.

Cora, who was still sitting nearby, frowned when she saw him get up.

Especially when she realized he was heading straight for Natalie.

She had no idea what kind of mess he was trying to stir up this time.
