Walking out of the Kingswood Arts Center, she felt an unprecedented sense of relief.

Her phone suddenly buzzed with a message.

[Ms. Thornton, I'm so sorry, but someone offered a premium price and bought the house.]

Upon learning that her grandparents had sold their retirement home, she had proactively contacted the buyer's agent, wanting to offer more money to buy it back.

[Natalie: The price is negotiable. I can offer even more.]

Even though the Thornton family was completely controlled by her stepmother and she couldn't access a single dime, the high-precision robots she had built were appraised by Nancy and could easily fetch millions.

[I apologize, but the buyer offered three times the asking price, and the contract was signed on the spot.]

Her heart skipped a beat. The buyer clearly didn't care about money. But why were they so hell-bent on her grandparents' old property? Could this be Hassan's revenge?

The very next second, Natalie dismissed the thought. A man as fiercely rational as him would never do something so petty.

[Natalie: Could you give me the buyer's contact info? I'd like to speak with them.]

[Let's just leave the contact info out of it. The buyer is very wealthy, and his wife fell in love with the place. He offered triple the price on the spot. Even if you added him, it wouldn't make a difference.]

Staring at the message, the gnawing suspicion in her heart grew stronger, yet she still didn't want to believe it.

She was about to ask another question. Suddenly, her phone rang. It was her grandmother's attending physician, whose number she had recently saved.

She answered immediately.

The doctor's tone was urgent. "The patient's son is here. He's causing a massive scene in the hospital room right now. You need to get here and talk him down."

Natalie rushed to the hospital. The moment she stepped out of the elevator, she heard her uncle Lyndon Steele roaring in a violent rage.

"Where is the money from the house?! Did you give it to Natalie, that little outsider?! What about me?! I didn't get a single dime! I'm your only son! Ha! You think she's actually going to take care of you?! When you die, she won't even bother to bury you!"

Lyndon, like a crazed addict, immediately started patting Lemuel's pockets, searching for his bank cards. "Where's the money? Where is it..."

Her grandmother, Yvonne, shaking uncontrollably on the bed, coughed up a mouthful of blood in sheer distress.

The room instantly descended into chaos. No one expected a son to physically attack his elderly father over money. The doctors and nurses were too terrified to intervene and frantically called for security.

"Uncle Lyndon, don't touch him! He's bleeding! He can't be moved!" Natalie screamed, her voice tearing as she frantically tried to pin Lyndon's hands down to protect her grandfather. But Lyndon backhanded her viciously, shoving her to the floor.

"Get off me! You little bitch! You've completely brainwashed my parents! Leaving all the good stuff for you! That house money belongs to me, their son!"

It took two security guards rushing in to finally subdue him.

Only then did the doctors dare to step forward and examine the old man.

Lemuel's face was ashen, almost translucent, and his pulse was frighteningly faint, barely there at all.
