Natalie Thornton froze at the door; him publicly claiming this child was a direct slap in her face.

Cecily was also taken aback. She hadn't expected Hassan to acknowledge the boy so decisively. If he was going to do this, why didn't he just bring the boy home from the start?

She glanced at Natalie, figuring he had been worried Natalie would lose her mind and lose control, which was why he had kept the child hidden. Now that the news was out, he had no choice but to bring him into the fold.

Natalie was about to leave the office. She didn't want to act like a hysterical shrew anymore. Since they were getting a divorce anyway, what did it matter?

She had long known he didn't love her, nor did he care if others humiliated her over this child.

All his tenderness was given to the woman he loved, Gardenia Sutton. There was nothing left for her.

"Natalie!" Cecily stopped her, stepping in front of her to close the door. "The child will return to the Carlson Family, but your status won't change. I won't press you on who leaked this to the press, but behave yourself. Don't even think about doing anything to the boy!"

Natalie forced a slight smile. "How could I dare defy you? My grandmother's life is still in your hands. Don't worry, Cecily, I won't do anything to your precious grandson."

"I hope you can keep your word!" Cecily's fierce gaze then snapped toward Gardenia. "As for you, clarify to the media when the time comes. Tell them you and Hassan ended things long ago, that you are just a Carlson employee, and any occasional contact is strictly because of the child. The Carlson family will never let you join us!"

Gardenia pressed her lips together stubbornly. "I have nothing to do with Hassan anyway! And I don't care about joining your family!"

Natalie walked out of the office, taking a few heavy breaths. Her head throbbed, a sharp pain radiating through her temples.

By the elevator, Yale Easton hurried out, out of breath. He paused when he saw her and immediately stepped in her way. "The press is swarming outside. Don't go down yet."
