The sudden warmth was comforting, and Natalie really couldn't afford to catch a cold and delay her work, so she didn't refuse it.

The man cast a long look at her before stepping out.

Upstairs, she followed Hassan inside the apartment.

She had originally packed all her own slippers when she moved out. Yet, upon walking through the door, she immediately noticed a pair of women's slippers sitting right next to a men's pair on the shoe rack. They were identical to the ones she used to wear.

Natalie's immediate thought was, *Did Gardenia move in?*

She didn't bother taking her shoes off, choosing to stand right in the entryway. "You can just bring it out to me. I'm not going inside."

Hassan leaned down, picked up the women's slippers, and placed them neatly by her feet. "Get it yourself."

With that, he walked straight into the apartment.

Natalie frowned and opened her mouth to argue, but ultimately just slipped on the shoes and walked in.

Cup's room looked exactly as she had left it. She did a quick sweep of the space, then turned to frown at the man leaning casually against the doorframe. "Where is it?"

He lowered his eyes, doing a theatrical sweep of the room. "Not here? I could have sworn there was one."

Natalie rolled her eyes. "Then come in here and find it for me."

Hassan stepped into the room and casually pushed the door shut behind him.

Natalie was too annoyed to notice the subtle click.

She patted her pockets to check the time, only to realize Hassan still had her phone. She immediately held her hand out to him. "Give me my phone back first."

"Let's find the toy first," he said dismissively. "Your phone is in the other room."

Natalie went back to rummaging through the storage bins. "Where did you see it last? If we really can't find it, forget it. I'll just buy the dog a new one anyway."

"A new one wouldn't be the same."
