After she finished dressing, she found a fresh pair of socks and pulled them on.

Once she was fully dressed and ready to walk out, she realized Hassan was trailing right behind her.

She glanced over her shoulder. "Why are you following me?"

He raised his hand slightly. "I'm driving you."

"Where's the driver?"

"He had something to take care of and asked for the day off."

Natalie had arrived in his car and didn't have her own, so when he offered to drive, she didn't bother arguing.

But she absolutely wasn't going to just let Gardenia off the hook.

As she got into the passenger seat, she casually toggled the voice recorder on her phone.

Hassan slid into the driver's seat. For once, the two of them sat in the enclosed space in total silence.

As the car rolled out of the Sycamore Quays underground garage, Natalie turned to him. "If you want me to keep my mouth shut about Gardenia drugging me, fine. But I expect something in return."

Keeping his eyes on the road, Hassan spared her a brief sideways glance but said nothing.

"Not going to talk? Fine, I'm calling the cops right now." She immediately pulled out her phone and started dialing.

Hassan finally spoke. "What do you want?"

A triumphant smile curled on her lips. "You're Hassan Carlson. I can ask for whatever I want, right?"

His eyes darkened ominously as his thin lips parted. "Name it."

"If you manage to track down the guy hunting Nancy Gaines, you have to find a way to help me take him down."

Judging by Nancy's sheer terror, it was glaringly obvious this person wasn't someone to take lightly.
