Natalie walked to the balcony and glanced back; the man had already gone into the bathroom.
She didn't hang up. Not knowing if he would check the call logs later, Kyle kept talking about the things they had already discussed that afternoon. Natalie murmured in response occasionally while pulling up Hassan's phone to check Coralie's account.
Her gaze paused. Sure enough, that account was saved in his contacts.
There was no special nickname. She clicked into it and saw they had texted not too long ago.
[Natalie tried to voice-call me, I told her I was busy and didn't answer.]
[Okay.]
Natalie scrolled up, her heart pounding wildly. Every conversation she had with "Coralie", he knew about.
From their chats, it wasn't hard to tell the nature of their relationship. "Coralie" acted like his subordinate, constantly reporting her "work" to him.
Natalie deleted the traces she left.
Returning to the bedroom, she placed his phone on the bed, plugged hers in to charge, and lay on her side of the bed, looking at her screen.
When the man came out of the bathroom, she couldn't help but look up.
He glanced at his phone on the bed, his expression unreadable and calm.
Walking to the bed, he didn't check the device. He turned off the lights, plunging the room into darkness. Only the small patch of light from Natalie's phone illuminated her features.
The man pulled her into his arms, the weight of his arm pressing against her waist. He held her tight, as if the exhaustion of the whole day dissipated in this very moment.
The phone in her hand dropped onto the pillow. The only light in the room vanished, making touch and smell even more sensitive.
