Natalie threw a gray, knee-length cardigan over her pajamas and stood at the main entrance of Sunriver Residences.

A matte military-green SUV approached from the right, its headlights making her squint.

She checked the time, a little surprised. He got here fast.

When the car stopped, she tried to open the rear door, but it was locked.

The passenger window rolled down, and Jacob glared at her through his messy hair. "What are you doing?! Why should I be your chauffeur?"

Normally, Natalie would have gotten into a shouting match with him right then and there, but she simply didn't have the energy today.

She opened the passenger door and got in.

The moment she sat down, Jacob scoffed coldly. "I'm driving you there so you can apologize to Hassan, and you show up dressed like that?"

Natalie looked down at her pajamas. "What, am I supposed to strip to my waist and carry thorny branches on my back?"

Jacob's face turned red with anger. "If you want to strip, go ahead. I'll turn this car around and drop you off at the police station for being a flasher."

Natalie leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes. She really wasn't in the mood to argue with him today. "Just drive. When we get there, I'll see if I can snap a tree branch so your precious Hassan can smack my palms, okay?"

Jacob gripped the steering wheel, getting angrier by the second for some reason.

He shouldn't have driven himself; he should have called a driver.

What was he now?

Natalie's personal chauffeur?

Why the hell did he have to do this?!

The car slowly came to a halt. Jacob looked at Natalie with a cold face. "You drive."

Natalie didn't move. "You drive. Driving your car is probably illegal for me, and later you'll just accuse me of stealing it."
