Hassan turned to the others waiting for him. "You guys head back first."
Now that he had said that, even the people who wanted to stick around for the drama didn't dare stay. They nodded hurriedly. "Alright, we'll wait for you in the private room."
They quickly dispersed.
Only Finn, Natalie, Wyatt, Kern, and Hassan remained.
Natalie truly hadn't expected to run into Hassan today of all days. She turned to Finn. "Why don't we invite Kern back to our room to eat? It's perfectly fine if you already had plans with him. We can just eat together. Why didn't you say anything?"
Wyatt was around Finn's age and clearly a good friend of his. He knew the inside story and kept his gaze fixed on Finn, waiting for him to speak.
"Mr. Carlson, did you stay behind because you have something to say?" Finn asked.
Hassan didn't reply to him. Instead, he stared at Natalie.
Natalie couldn't figure out what he wanted. She had only managed to get Finn's whereabouts from the manager through Hassan's connections.
Hassan had absolutely no reason to stay and interfere with her plans.
In Natalie's eyes, his staying behind was mostly likely just to get in her way. She couldn't think of any other reason.
"Natalie, I helped you. Don't let irrelevant people thank me on your behalf," he stated flatly.
It clicked instantly for Kern, who clapped his hands together. "Ah, my nephew-in-law is jealous!"
His voice wasn't loud, but it was clear enough for everyone present to hear.
Kern chuckled. "Don't worry. If Finn and she were going to work out, you wouldn't have even stood a chance."
Wyatt stared blankly at Kern. "No wonder you've been a low-level employee for decades."
