Natalie stood behind Kern, instantly freezing in place.

Gardenia looked equally horrified. "How is that possible?"

She had almost been seriously hurt, yet Hassan was helping them! Helping the perpetrator?

"If you've got the guts, go ask him yourself and see what he says."

Kern had been so infuriated by the woman's words that he blurted out the entire truth in a fit of rage.

After Gardenia left, he noticed Natalie staring at him in shock. Regret instantly washed over him—Hassan had strictly told him to keep his mouth shut.

And now, he had practically spilled everything.

Natalie furrowed her brows. "Kern, is what you just said true? When did this happen..."

Kern thought on his feet. "Ah, I just couldn't stand her arrogance. I can say whatever I want, and if she hadn't run off so fast, I would've said even worse things to piss her off."

Natalie carefully studied his face for any signs of lying, but ultimately, she didn't know him well enough to tell.

Tilda rarely kept in touch with her to begin with, so she had seen even less of Kern. Unable to determine the truth of his words, she had no choice but to take them at face value.

More than anything, she didn't want to owe Hassan that kind of favor. It would only make her feel like she was constantly relying on his help.

Finn gently patted her shoulder. "Natalie, did you come here today because you found out something?"

She was momentarily at a loss for words. "I..."

"Do you think I'm the bad guy here?" Finn asked softly.

Natalie shook her head. "I believe you aren't. That's why I came."
