When Natalie returned, Nancy had just stepped out of the bedroom. Nancy's hands were clasped in front of her, her fingers fidgeting restlessly. As she looked at Natalie, she seemed desperate to say something but held herself back.

Sensing that Natalie was in a terrible emotional state, Nancy walked over and gently stroked her hair.

Natalie looked up and let out a soft, broken laugh. "Hassan was so close to telling me everything, but Gardenia called him, and suddenly his lips were sealed."

A bitter smile spread across her face. "The most ridiculous part? He actually asked me to trust him."

She didn't even have the strength to hold her purse anymore. It hit the floor with a loud *thud*.

"Did you know? My mom didn't pass away from an illness. He knew the whole time, but he never told me." Natalie laughed mockingly at herself.

Nancy was stunned. "How did your mom die?"

"I always thought she died unexpectedly from a sickness, but my grandfather told Finn to protect Lyndon at all costs because the secret to my mother's death lies with him." Natalie shook her head. "That's what I can't wrap my head around. Why does Lyndon have the answer to how she died?"

Nancy opened her mouth. Thinking of the DNA test results, she was burning with the urge to tell her.

But...

She watched as Natalie slid slowly down the entryway cabinet, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her chin on them, looking as fragile as shattered glass.

Nancy pressed her lips together and stayed silent.

She would let her get through this wave of grief first.

...

Saturday afternoon, the package with the letter and photos Cora sent finally arrived.

Natalie opened the door and signed for it.

Mia was in the living room with Nancy, playing with Legos and assembling a doll.
