Stella gave Hayden another cautious look before continuing. "I was on the phone with Suzie last night, and she sounded incredibly down. When I asked her why, she didn't give me the full story, but she did describe the reunion yesterday. If Vivian cried until she passed out, she clearly isn't handling this well..."

Hayden's expression instantly soured. "Are you suggesting Vivian did this?"

Stella didn't back down. "Look, I prefaced this by saying it was just a theory. If you're going to get insanely defensive and protective, then whatever—pretend I didn't say a word. I'd hate for Suzie to see you acting like this."

Hayden stammered, dialing back his anger. "Sorry... I just don't think Vivian is capable of something like that. Sure, she can be spoiled and abrasive, but she has the temper of a bratty teenager. She wouldn't do something this deeply malicious."

Jamie chimed in, analytical as always. "Character aside, it logically doesn't make sense. The truth came out last night. If she retaliated the very next morning, it would point a massive neon arrow right at her. She's not that stupid."

Stella rolled her eyes, muttering, "You two know absolutely nothing about women."

Hayden frowned. "Where is that coming from? Vivian and I grew up together. Even if we aren't blood relatives, I know her inside and out."

"You might know her personality," Stella shot back, "but you don't know what a woman is capable of when her entire status is threatened. Especially someone with her disposition. Look at Alice Quinn. She went behind your back, terrorized Suzie, and forced her to leave town. If you hadn't heard Alice admit it yourself, would you have ever believed she was capable of that? Now apply that to Vivian. Who do you think she hates most in the world right now?"

Before Hayden could argue, Stella added, "And don't look at me like that. Suzie and I don't keep secrets. Everything you guys know, I know. And the things you guys *don't* know? I know those, too."

Hayden was left speechless. A sliver of doubt suddenly crept into his mind. Last night, Vivian had pointed a shaking finger at Suzie and said some truly ugly things. She had absolutely blamed Suzie for ruining her life.

Jamie, however, had completely glossed over the Vivian theory. His dark eyes locked onto Stella. "What exactly do you know about Suzie that we don't?"

Stella cast a sideways glance at him. "No comment."
