The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 650

Suzie took a slow step back, her voice thick with emotion. "You told me before that you would never let Baylor blood live outside your family. You're trying to take my babies away."

"Suzie, please, don't jump to conclusions. It's not what you think. Just take a breath and listen to me," Jamie pleaded, a deep frown creasing his forehead.

But she was too far gone in her panic to hear him. In the ruthless world of the ultra-rich, her instincts were almost certainly right. Stella had been right—they needed a legal strategy, and fast.

"You have your boundaries, Jamie, and I have mine. Let me make this perfectly clear. Those kids are my life. If you want to take them, you will have to kill me first."

Tears spilled over her lashes, driven by a fierce, unyielding desperation.

Seeing the absolute terror and resolve in her eyes felt like a knife twisting in Jamie's gut.

He kept his voice low and soothing. "Suzie, they just want to meet the children. I give you my word, no one is going to take them from you. When I walked in and saw you running for the playroom, I knew exactly what you were terrified of. Do you... do you really think I'm that kind of monster?"

Suzie didn't hold back. "Jamie, I am never getting back together with you. We are done, for the rest of our lives. Knowing that, are you really telling me you'll just let the kids live with me permanently, instead of forcing them into the Baylor estate?"

Jamie fell dead silent.

He knew the truth. If he couldn't win Suzie back within the two-week deadline, his father would ruthlessly deploy his lawyers and private security to rip the kids away from her. Even if his father didn't act, his grandfather would never tolerate his heirs living outside their control.
