The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 71

“Can I see the specific shooting plan?” Suzie asked softly.

Harrison hesitated for a moment before handing her the file.

Suzie examined it carefully. The workload was intense, but when she glanced up, she saw Harrison’s worried expression.

She tightened her grip on the file. At the back of the file, she saw the contract. If Mirage Studio failed to deliver on time, they could face astronomical penalties.

Given its current standing, the studio couldn't possibly afford such a blow. A breach of this magnitude would not only devastate their reputation but could also prevent them from ever getting another contract. Mirage Studio might very well go out of business.

She knew that with her current physical condition and work capacity, Harrison had only hired her as a favor to Oliver. If she walked away now, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself.

With that thought, Suzie offered a gentle response.

“I've looked it over. It doesn't seem too difficult. As long as the assistants cooperate well, I don't think it will be too tiring for me.”

“Are you sure?” Harrison asked immediately, his voice filled with relief.

Suzie nodded confidently, then added after a slight pause, “Please don’t tell Oliver or Stella yet. They already worry about me enough as it is.”

Her tone was light, and while she was stating a fact, she was also implying that her health was not an issue.

When Harrison nodded in agreement, Suzie felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Once they reached an agreement, the photoshoot was quickly set into motion.

But Lexi's voice rose, sharp and accusatory. “While I was in the hospital, I had my assistant report to Mr. Young. I told him I would handle Baylor Group and that the studio wouldn't suffer any losses. My assistant went to see him. What kind of underhanded tricks did you pull to steal my project?”

At Lexi’s outburst, the crew, who had been about to get back to work, all turned to stare again.

Suzie froze, quickly processing Lexi's words. If what she said was true, why had Harrison asked her to take over?

Before Suzie could respond, her assistant, Mia, spoke up.

“Lexi, Mr. Young was the one who made the arrangement. Who knows if your assistant really said anything? Besides, yelling at Suzie like this is pretty rude.”

Mia’s comment seemed to enrage Lexi further. With one hand on her hip, she jabbed a finger at Mia. “Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me?!”
