Lexi was so aggressive she nearly poked Mia in the face.
Suzie stepped in, pulling Mia behind her as she met Lexi’s furious gaze with calm composure. “If you have questions, you can ask Mr. Young. I'm just following the studio's instructions.”
Lexi shifted her hateful glare from Mia back to Suzie. “Did you answer my question? Why do you keep hiding behind Mr. Young? What exactly is he to you?”
Her tone was dripping with contempt and mockery, her demeanor utterly overbearing.
Suzie simply looked at her, exhausted after a long day of work. She had neither the energy nor the desire to get into a fight.
She paused, then leaned toward Mia and whispered, “Go get Mr. Young.”
Mia nodded and hurried off toward Harrison's office.
Lexi, apparently needing an outlet for her fury, snatched the camera from Suzie's hands.
“This is my set,” she hissed. “Get out, and take your people with you.”
Suzie looked at her empty hands but made no move to get the camera back. The last thing her body needed was a physical altercation.
The onlookers started murmuring amongst themselves.
“Lexi is being such a tyrant. If it weren't for the new girl, Suzie, Mirage would be in deep trouble. Instead of being grateful, she's here throwing her weight around.”
“Exactly! She's always been so bossy. Just because she has a few decent works to her name, she thinks she can lecture everyone. How many of us have been on the receiving end of that?”
Suzie started to move, but Lexi spoke up first.
“Mr. Young, I know it was my fault for getting sick suddenly, but I told my assistant what to do. I don't understand why you'd put a rookie on such an important job. If she messes this up and Baylor Group comes after us, who's going to take responsibility? I think we can discuss this right here, out in the open, can't we?”
Though her tone was less aggressive than before, the implication was clear: she wasn't going to the office. She wanted a public explanation, right here and now.
Harrison looked at Lexi, his expression unreadable. “Are you sure you want to have this conversation here?”
Lexi nodded firmly.
Harrison slid one hand into his pocket, paced a few steps, and said calmly,
