Chapter 127 Never Admit It
Emily felt completely at ease.
Deep down, she couldn’t help but feel a little proud.
A
She was proud of the image she had built in the Andersons‘ eyes: innocent, pure, and perfect.
She was proud of how she had everyone in the Anderson family wrapped around her finger, with no one ever doubting her for a second.
She felt a smug satisfaction, thinking, ‘As long as I’m around, Whitney will never have a place in the Anderson family, and she’ll never win their love.‘
But when she thought the Andersons would never mention this again, Edgar, the real boss of the family, the one whose word mattered most, stepped up and tore away her cover right in front of everyone.
He laid it all out in the open once more.
Right in front of the Andersons, he laid it all out and asked her point–blank, “If you truly think you owe Whitney, if you honestly believe you should step aside and let her stay, then why did you frame her on the show?”
Emily felt a chill run down her spine as Edgar confronted her, his piercing gaze making her feel exposed and vulnerable.
But more than anything, she felt wronged.
She was hurt that Edgar would actually question her, would actually doubt her.
She thought, ‘Of course. It’s all because I’m not really his daughter. I’m not related to Edgar by blood.
‘That’s why he can hurt me so blatantly, without any hesitation.
‘Otherwise, why does everyone else in the Anderson family trust me without question, never ask about what happened, but Edgar keeps holding onto this and won’t let it go?‘
Emily never once considered that any of this was her own fault.
Instead, she felt nothing but wronged and bitter inside.
Her tears fell harder now.
Eric said, “Dad, that whole thing was obviously Whitney’s doing! How can you believe all that crap online?”
He couldn’t stand seeing Emily sobbing her heart out, so he spoke up for her. Even though he was still bedridden, he had to defend her.
He never once believed that the edited video was from Whitney’s Sidekick.
He thought, ‘Who knows, maybe Whitney’s Sidekick is Whitney’s fake account, deliberately editing things to distort the
truth.
‘Only those clueless sheep online, who swallow every rumor they see, would actually buy it.
‘Everyone in the Anderson family knows exactly what kind of person Emily is. There is online rumors get to us.
no way we’d ever let those ridiculous
The more Eric thought about it, the more his heart ached for Emily, and the more he wanted to comfort her and make her feel better.
So, Eric glared at Edgar and said, “Dad, Emily has always looked up to you more than anyone. How could you believe those online rumors, all that mud they’re slinging at her, and question her?
“Do you have any idea how much this is hurting her? How much is it making her feel wronged?”
Edgar couldn’t help but let out a laugh, exasperated by Eric’s words.
His gaze toward Emily grew sharper.
He thought, This adopted daughter of mine. She has actually managed to have all my sons eating out of her hand. ‘Even Eric, who usually steers clear of me, is now daring to talk back for her sake.
‘Maybe it’s time I made arrangements to send Emily abroad, before she really starts having a bad influence on my five sons. Edgar’s gaze was downright dangerous. Emily had survived all these years in the Anderson family, not by relying on her carefully crafted persona
She also had a shrewd, perceptive mind.
Her senses were razor–sharp, and she could sense Edgar’s hostility with absolute clarity.
Chapter 127 Never Arimit It
Her eyes grew redder, her pale lips pressed into a tight line. Inside, she was seething with resentment toward Edgar.
But she didn’t dare let any of it show. She sniffled, mustered all her strength to look strong, and lifted her head from Paula’s arms to meet Edgar’s gaze.
Her face was the very picture of hurt and helpless innocence.
She said, “Dad… I really don’t know how to explain all those things people are saying online, but I promise, I really didn’t,” Right now, the only thing she could do was stick to her story and never admit a thing, no matter what.
She had to do everything she could to make it all seem like one big misunderstanding.
She added, “Dad, if I ever had any bad intentions toward Whitney, I wouldn’t have cried and begged you all to treat her kindly
“I wouldn’t have tried so hard to help her, guide her, and show her how to be a true Anderson heiress.
“If I really wanted anything bad for Whitney, why would I have asked Chase to help bring her onto Darian’s show with me? “And… Dad, you and Mom taught me everything I know. I’ve always been a top student, and I’ve never done anything to embarrass the Anderson family.
“How could I ever be so foolish as to try and set Whitney up during a livestream?”
Emily was crying her eyes out.
When she said she cried and begged them to treat Whitney kindly, she meant that time when the Andersons saw Whitney bullying” her, and Paula lost it, making Whitney apologize to her.
But Whitney wouldn’t back down, and Paula ended up slapping her right across the face.
Then, right in front of the whole Anderson family, Emily broke down in tears, crying that Whitney didn’t do it on purpose and that all she wanted was for everyone to treat her a little better.
She begged them, through her sobs, to treat Whitney better, so Whitney wouldn’t hold a grudge against her.
Back then, the whole Anderson family felt so sorry for Emily that their dislike for Whitney only grew stronger.
And as for teaching Whitney how to be a proper heiress, it was all for show. Emily made it seem like she was genuinely helping Whitney, but Whitney acted ungrateful and insulted her, making the Andersons feel more guilty and sympathetic toward Emily.
Now, all of that could be spun as evidence that she never meant any harm to Whitney.
And then there was Eric, always fawning over Emily, nodding along and chiming in, “Exactly! Emily is not like Whitney. She is
way Whitney would’ve ever been allowed into our family.” not clueless at all. If Emily really didn’t like Whitney, there’s no He thought, ‘If it weren’t for Paula always crying and longing for her real daughter, if it weren’t for Emily being so generous and willing to accept Whitney as her sister, Whitney never would have been welcomed into our family.‘
When the Andersons saw those videos posted by Whitney’s Sidekick and all the online accusations against Emily, their first reaction was: No way.
In their mind, there’s no way their precious Emily could ever be that spiteful or jealous.
Paula couldn’t believe it. She thought, ‘My pride and joy, the daughter I’d raised myself, would actually shove her own sister and try to smear her on live TV.
“If that were true, it’d be a total slap in the face for me.
1
‘It’d be like telling everyone I totally failed as a mom.‘
“This whole mess is all Whitney’s doing. Don’t go pinning everything on Emily.” Paula shot back, fiercely defending her. Whitney is always up to something, always playing dirty.
“Who knows if she didn’t get herself hurt on the show on purpose, to pull this stunt and trash Emily’s reputation?”
