Their Punching Bag Became The Storm novel Chapter 128

Chapter 128 The True Heiress

Edgar’s face was grim as he looked at Paula and his three sons.

Brandon and Chase didn’t say a word.

But the way they looked at him was like Eric and Paula.

They were convinced that Whitney was scheming against Emily.

Edgar was starting to believe Emily’s explanations.

After all, Emily had always been sharp. If she wasn’t, she never could have kept her place in the Anderson family after she found out she and Whitney were switched at birth.

Edgar knew Emily pretty well.

In his mind, Emily was clever and good at adapting to circumstances. She knew Whitney couldn’t shake/her position, so there was no way she’d use such a stupid trick to frame Whitney.

If this had happened before, Edgar would have trusted Emily and acted like a caring father, always stepping in to explain things for her and covering for her.

But things were different.

To Edgar, daughters were assets for his own benefit.

He honestly didn’t care much about the fact that Emily and Whitney were switched at birth.

He used to back Emily up and would order Whitney to behave if she wanted to stay in the family, telling her not to cause trouble and to keep the family in harmony.

Emily had lived with them for nineteen years, and the Anderson family had invested nineteen years and countless resources to shape Emily into the socialite she had become.

From the perspective of the Anderson Group, Emily’s reputation, training, and education were what really benefited the Andersons.

Whitney was there to please Paula, another seat at the table, and maybe a tool for a marriage deal if the family ever needed

  1. it.

So, whenever there was any conflict between Emily and Whitney, Edgar would always back Emily up.

But now, Whitney was clearly bringing more benefits to the Anderson family than Emily ever could.

Even if Edgar thought Emily’s explanation was flawless, he’d still side with Whitney and lash out at the innocentEmily, just like he used to defend Emily and blame Whitney for everything.

He’d stand by Whitney and scold the innocentEmily.

Enough!Edgar’s angry voice echoed through the Anderson family living room, instantly silencing everyone.

Edgar swept his gaze across everyone, speaking each word with authority, Let this be clear. Whitney is the true heiress of the Anderson family, the rightful lady of this house.

Edgar’s declaration drained all color from Emily’s face. She stared at him in utter disbelief, her eyes wide and trembling. She thought, Wait, does he mean that he is actually going to announce Whitney as the real heiress to everyone?

Is he really going to push me down, the foster daughter, to clear the path for Whitney?

No!

I won’t.

I won’t let myself fall from the true heiress to some foster kid everyone mocks!

Emily’s tears flowed more uncontrollably.

Paula, her heart aching, gently patted Emily’s back.

Brandon, Chase, and Eric all wanted to speak up for Emily, but the moment they saw Edgar’s face, they all clammed up. None of them dared to risk his wrath.

Edgar snapped, This whole mess has blown up way too much. I’ve made my decision. Tomorrow afternoon, we’re holding

a press conference. Emily, you’ll get up there and apologize to everyone online and to Whitney, too

And at that press conference, I’ll make it official. I’ll announce to everyone who Whitney really is.

All of you, get yourselves together and be ready for tomorrow. Don’t think about pulling any stunts! Got it?

Chapter 128 The True Heiress

Edgar’s voice left no room for argument. It was all command and warning.

The siblings all knew that if anyone dared to talk back or push back now, they’d be out on the street before they knew it. Edgar was ruthless when it came to his own family.

Edgar looked at them, all heads bowed, not a word from anyone.

Then his gaze locked onto Emily, making it clear she was the one he was warning.

Edgar’s stare was a warning.

He singled her out. This warning was for her.

Emily shivered, shrinking back and bowing her head, too scared to speak.

Edgar left the room.

The suffocating tension in the living room finally eased a little.

Emily finally let her suppressed sobs escape.

Emily!Chase called out.

Everyone’s heart ached for her, and deep down, they all blamed Edgar for how harsh he’d been.

Even Eric, who was still sprawled on the couch and not looking much better himself, immediately sat up and moved to Emily’s side. Emily, don’t cry. We will protect you!

Emily was sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath.

Eric, not thinking about Paula sitting right there, did what he always did. He tried to pull Emily into his arms, wanting to kiss away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

But as soon as his arm touched her shoulders, Emily, still choking on her sobs, suddenly went rigid and quickly scooted away from him. She looked like she was scared for him to touch her.

Eric froze for a second, staring at Emily in confusion. Only to catch a clear look of disdain in her eyes.

He thought, Wait, does she really dislike me?

The idea made Eric’s eyes widen in shock.

Emily was definitely annoyed with Eric.

She was a little mad at him.

He’d promised her that he’d really put Whitney in her place and make Whitney bow before her and apologize.

He’d promised that he’d fix everything that happened during the livestream, make Whitney sacrifice herself so Emily’s reputation would stay perfect.

But in the end, he didn’t manage to put Whitney in her place. Instead, he dragged himself right into the mess.

He got her hopes up, made her really believe he’d come through for her, only to let her down hard.

Every time she thought about that whole scandal with Eric and those seven plainlooking guys.

Whenever those fake friends from the Roynfort socialite circle sent her links to that infamous video and all the gossip articles about Eric, their messages were dripping with sarcasm and mockery, all aimed straight at her.

She felt utterly disgusted.

But when Emily saw the hurt in Eric’s eyes, the disbelief on his face, and then watched it slowly turn into anger, she forced herself to tamp down her resentment and annoyance, and she glanced at Paula from the corner of her eye.

She quickly used Paula as her excuse. Since Paula was there, they’d been forbidden from getting too close.

Eric realized what was going on, and that frustrated feeling inside him was forced back down.

He thought, I must’ve been seeing things.

Emily is so kind and sweet. There’s no way she’d ever dislike me.

She’s avoiding me because she doesn’t want Paula to scold me.

He nodded, forcing himself not to pull Emily into his arms. Emily, Dad must’ve been tricked by that bitch. There’s no way hed treat you like this otherwise!

Paula noticed every subtle way Emily avoided Eric.

That made Paula feel a little relieved.

She thought, ‘At least, she is still wellbehaved.

Chapter 128 The True Heiress

After I gave her instructions, Emily made sure to keep her distance from the boys. Emily really is so much less trouble.

Unlike my own daughter. What does she ever do besides make my blood boil?!
