Chapter 144 The One Emily Was Talking About
Whitney put the brooch away and turned her gaze back to Ryan. “If the that makes things a whole lot easier.
“We can team up and lure them out.”
roon we’re looking for might be the same one,
As long as they show up. Whitney would have a shot at grabbing them. Then she’d finally learn why her mentor vanished, and seize the prime bug for Whitney propped her chin on her hand, her eyes sparkling with mischief,
She arched an eyebrow. And asked, “Isn’t Davis’s lecture tomorrow? lecture.”
Her vibrant, confident look was so magnetic, you couldn’t get sick of her.
Ryan stared at her, a smirk playing on his lips. “What are you thinking?”

Whitney beckoned him over with a finger. Ryan, like a good boy, lowered his head and leaned in close.
Now that they’d made up their minds, Whitney decided she’d suppress the bug in Ryan’s body after the lecture. She’d already treated him yesterday.
For the time being, the bug wouldn’t surface or release any poison.
For the time being, Ryan wouldn’t feel any side effects. He could live and feel like any normal guy.
As soon as Whitney got back to her villa, her phone buzzed with a video call from Nora.
She picked up, and Nora’s excited voice came through. “Whitney, where are you right now? Are you free today? Let’s hang out.”
As she spoke, Nora flipped the camera around.
Then, on the screen, Henry and Elian’s faces popped up.
Nora giggled, her voice full of excitement. “Can you believe it? We happened to be filming a variety show together today, right here in Roynfort.”
It wasn’t Henry and Elian on the screen.
In the corner, you could make out Kayla and Bella, both looking a bit sour as they glanced over.
After all, Real Survival was still hot and impossible to ignore.
Plus, thanks to all the buzz around Emily lately, the show kept trending nonstop. Even after filming ended, it wouldn’t leave the trending charts.
So naturally, other variety shows wanted to cash in on the buzz and started inviting the Real Survival cast to guest on their
programs.
That way, they could milk Real Survival’s popularity for all it was worth.
As for why it was they were showing up well, that was because Chase’s reputation had tanked, and he wasn’t willing to step out of the Anderson family home.
Of course, it was because Chase’s reputation had taken a hit, and he didn’t want to leave the Anderson family.
Emily actually wanted to go on TV to fix her image, but the public wasn’t exactly ready to forgive her, and Edgar insisted she stay put at home and not stir up any drama.
Plus, with Paula in the hospital, Emily had to play the dutiful daughter at her bedside.
Emily was constantly scheming ways to land herself on a variety show, hoping to win back the public’s favor and give her reputation a fresh start.
Forget about Ryan; he was a total nonstarter. Most shows couldn’t pay his price even if they wanted to.
And Whitney? Nobody had her contact info or even knew what agency she belonged to.
Even the internet’s so-called Sherlocks couldn’t find a thing about her. If anyone wanted to invite her, they’d have no clue where to send the invite.
“Alright, once you’re done filming, come straight to Prestige Manor,” Whitney replied.
Everyone’s always swamped, so it’s not easy for all of us to hang out together. Luckily, everyone was around this time. Henry laughed, “I’ll bring my daughter with me. Ever since I got back home, all she does is go on and on about you.

Seriously, I’m totally sidelined whenever you’re around. Dad’s status downgraded.”
Nora squeezed in, practically bouncing with excitement. “Wait, I’m really going to Prestige Manor? Am I about to level up and join the elite? Is this my ticket to the top?”
She gazed at Whitney with stars in her eyes. She was literally drooling at the thought.
Remembering that insanely luxurious backdrop from yesterday’s video call with Whitney made her want to scream. Nora wanted to scream.
If she could spend even a single minute in a place as grand as a royal palace, it would feel like her whole life had hit a new high.
Whitney couldn’t help but laugh at Nora’s dramatic excitement. “Come straight over when you’re done. I’ll let the security know so they can bring you in.”
“Deal. As soon as we’re done filming, we’ll zoom right over.” Nora was practically bouncing with excitement.
Nora honestly couldn’t wait another second.
After hanging up, Whitney called the gate to give them a heads-up, then ordered a bunch of fresh ingredients to be delivered.
After a quick thought, she called Ryan to tell him that Nora and the others would be coming over.

At the hospital, Emily finally found her chance. While Paula was asleep and her brothers were nowhere to be seen, she slipped out of the hospital without a sound.
She took the back exit.
She made her way out of the hospital and into a quiet, secluded alley before finally pulling out her phone.
Emily sat frozen for several seconds, staring at her phone screen. Then, with trembling fingers, she began to dial a string of numbers.
With each number she entered, her face grew even paler. Fear flickered in her eyes, impossible to hide.
But in the end, she gritted her teeth and placed the call. After about ten seconds, someone finally picked up.
Emily’s throat felt parched as she managed to say, “I… I’m out…”
Her voice was trembling with fear. There was a cold scoff on the other end.
Then, a sharp, raspy voice, clearly run through a voice changer, came through. “Is this what you call your answer?”
Emily’s voice shook even harder. She couldn’t say a word in her defense, kept repeating, “I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”
“I don’t want your apologies,” the voice replied, showing zero sympathy for her sobbing. “Emily, I’m so disappointed in you.”
Emily’s legs buckled, and she collapsed to her knees in the deserted alley, desperation written all over her face. “I have no idea how things spiraled out of control like this. I’ve been doing everything I can to make it right.
“It’s all because of Whitney that bitch messed up my plans. And now that old hag from the Anderson family is stuck in the hospital, always hanging onto me and never letting me go.
“I barely have a moment to myself, let alone a chance to fix my reputation.”
Mentioning Whitney made her blood boil. She was burning with rage.
She’d planned it all out, using Real Survival to break into showbiz, rack up a flawless reputation, and shine even brighter in Roynfort’s elite circles.
She was supposed to become the dream daughter-in-law for every powerful family in the city.
And on the show, she was supposed to win over Ryan, the untouchable heartthrob. While all those rich heirs lined up to win her over, she’d pick Ryan and marry into the Pierce family.
That was her plan. But in the end, Whitney wrecked everything. Now, she’s the one soaking up all the glory.
No matter what the Anderson family tried, they couldn’t tarnish Whitney’s reputation, and they couldn’t make Emily look good either.
Whitney was the one who got close to Ryan, the one he protected.
Emily thought, ‘All the things I worked so hard for. Now Whitney’s the one living my dream, reaping all the rewards that should have been mine.
‘Is she really going to steal Ryan from me next? Marry him and become the lady of the Pierce family?
