Chapter 168 The Fake Calls Out the Real
Emily’s hostility toward Whitney was already obvious to everyone.
No matter how much she tried to hide it, everyone could tell she was putting on a show.
So, she stopped pretending.
Even with all that bad blood between her and Whitney, she still had her tricks to get Brandon on her side.
Whitney didn’t bat an eye. She brushed past them without a second thought, not sparing them a single glance.
Brandon felt a pang in his chest from being ignored. “Whitney,” he blurted out, then strode over to block her path. “Are you still mad?
“You’ve been gone for days. Do you realize how worried we are about you?” He frowned, fixing his gaze on Whitney’s gorgeous face.
Whitney burst out laughing, as if she’d heard the best joke. “Worried about me? Seriously? Is your Anderson family worried about me? Come on, you know that’s not true.”
Whitney had always played the good girl around Brandon, doing whatever he wanted and going out of her way to please
him.
Brandon still couldn’t wrap his head around the way Whitney was treating him now.
His cold frown deepened, and his eyes grew more impatient as he looked at Whitney. “Stop with the attitude. What kind of proper girl stays out all night and spends it at another guy’s place?
“You’ve been causing trouble for days. Isn’t that enough already?”
Brandon thought, ‘Why does Whitney always have to make things so difficult for me?
‘The Anderson family is already a mess. Why can’t she behave for once and come home, so the family doesn’t have to worry about her all the time?
‘She used to be so well-behaved and obedient.’
“When I’m treating you like a human, at least try to act like one. Don’t make me actually slap you,” Whitney said, shooting Brandon a look like he was completely clueless.
She honestly couldn’t figure out where this self-important big shot got the nerve to think she was desperate to crawl back to the Anderson family.
She thought, ‘Was I not clear enough?
‘Or are they way too full of themselves?
‘Or maybe they are a bunch of animals who can’t understand my words.’
Brandon’s temper flared at her words, his brows knitting together in a cold frown. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means, get lost,” Whitney said, rolling her eyes at him.
“Whitney,” Emily shouted, so furious she could barely feel her face as she watched Whitney act as if she didn’t care at all.
She thought, ‘My life is a total mess right now.
‘Whitney should be a hundred times more miserable than me.
‘Why does she get to act as if nothing ever happened, chilling like everything’s fine?’
Whitney gave her a sideways look and let out a sarcastic laugh. “So, you’re done pretending to be all sweet, huh?
“If you’re willing to, I’d be happy to pretend to be all sweet,” Emily said, glancing around the room. She noticed that quite a few people were already looking their way.
Emily’s fingers curled slightly at her side, a cold glint in her eyes as she kept smiling, “Whitney, this is Davis’s big event. Most people can’t get in here. Seriously, how did you manage to get in?
“I got my invitation personally from Davis himself, and that’s how I got to bring Brandon with me. Whitney, you didn’t sneak in, did you?” She smiled again, raising her voice on purpose.
She shot a pointed look at the stage. “Whitney, you didn’t cling to Ryan and have him drag you in again, huh?”
That “again” really packed a punch. It was dripping with sarcasm.
Emily wasn’t implying that Whitney only got into Davis’s event by shamelessly latching onto some guy.
She was also throwing shade, making it sound like Whitney had used men to climb the ladder more than once.
Chapter 168 The Eake Calls Out the Real
People around spotted Emily and Whitney right away.
they were the infamous duo, the real heiress and the fake one.
Even folks who couldn’t care less about celebrity gossip had heard about the juicy real-vs-fake heiress drama.
“Now, the real and fake heiresses are facing off.”
“And the fake one is actually provoking the real one right in front of everyone.”
“Brandon is standing right next to Emily, so does that mean he’s letting her provoke Whitney?”
“Is Whitney really his sister?”
“Honestly, the Andersons treat Whitney as if she were worse than an enemy.”
‘Or maybe the fake daughter is just an expert at playing the field. She keeps all those brothers on her roster, manipulating them to back her up and bully the real daughter.”
‘From the way Emily has been acting lately, it’s obvious she’s as fake as they come, always playing the sweet, innocent girl, but deep down, she is a heart of pure venom.”
“But look at Whitney, the real heiress who grew up out in the rural area. She turns out better than anyone else. Her character and attitude are absolutely first-class.”
‘This just proves that bad genes are always bad genes. Strip away the glamour of high society, and they are left with a mink in the gutter, the ugly truth beneath the fancy facade.”
