Chapter 64 Stay Out of It
Joel’s fingers froze over the keyboard. Brandon continued, “You won’t find anything.”
Brandon paused, his voice growing heavy, and added, “Two reasons. First, someone hid her past on purpose. Second, that town she lived in is too remote.”
Brandon thought, ‘If someone hid her past, Whitney must be hiding some secret. Even the Anderson family cannot find it. That’s not possible.‘
Eric didn’t hesitate and said with a sneer, “The second reason, of course! She looked rough and messy when she first got here. Everything in our house blew her mind. She tried so hard to please us just to live here.”
Brandon said nothing. He still remembered Whitney’s first day back with the Anderson family. Paula ordered the five brothers to be there to welcome Emily.
Brandon blew off an evening meeting to get home. But his assistant wouldn’t stop calling about business. Brandon felt nothing for Whitney. He just went to keep Paula happy. So he never paid Whitney much attention. Brandon only noted Whitney looked grubby, but she inherited Edgar and Paula’s best traits, more beautiful than her five brothers.
Her strikingly bright eyes fixed with longing on her parents and brothers.
Whitney showed no surprise or interest in the Anderson residence’s luxury. It seemed her eyes were only for her family. Brandon wondered, ‘If Whitney really came from a poor town, she should be drawn to the Anderson residence’s luxury. But
she’s not.‘
Eric complained, “Brandon, Mom and I were livid. Dad ignored Emily’s beating and told us to back off.”
Eric saw that Brandon wasn’t responding. He kept fuming on his own. “What’s Dad thinking? Does he favor Whitney and treat Emily as less important?”
Brandon stayed quiet for a moment. He said, “Listen to Dad.” He knew exactly what Edgar was up to.
Ryan’s attitude toward Whitney in the live stream was definitely unusual.
Ryan stood at the top of Roynfort. As the Pierce family’s only heir, he was untouchable. Even the Anderson family couldn’t get close.
He was the heir to Roynfort’s most powerful family, and he also ran several entertainment companies. Brandon knew all about Ryan’s showbiz legend.
He knew Ryan’s reputation well. Yet Ryan kept helping Whitney and made his protection of her very public.
Edgar naturally wanted in. If he could ally with the Pierce family, the Anderson family would instantly become Roynfort’s leading company.
Edgar figured two slaps on Emily were nothing. If Whitney could leverage Ryan to boost the Anderson family, that was a steal.
Eric was baffled and said, “Brandon, you too? Seriously?”
Brandon said, “After the live stream ends, I’ll call the production team and talk to Chase and Emily. You guys stay out of this.” Then he hung up.
Eric froze for a few seconds, then stared at his phone and said, “Mom,Joel, am I the crazy one, or are Dad and Brandon losing their minds?” He couldn’t understand their bias for Whitney.
Paula hesitated for a moment. Her gaze fell on Emily, sobbing in Chase’s arms on the screen.
Paula steeled herself and said, “Brandon knows what he’s doing. He must have his reasons.” With that, she went upstairs. Eric couldn’t believe it. Everyone in the family had lost their minds. All because of Whitney. No one was thinking straight
anymore.
Eric thought, ‘They can watch Emily get hurt. I can’t. I won’t let this go until Whitney pays for it. When she’s back from that wild island, I’m teaching Whitney a lesson.’
He stormed off. Joel called him back. Eric shot him a glare. “What, you’re going to tell me to listen to Dad too?”
“No,” Joel said. His eyes narrowed. His fingers stayed on the keyboard, quiet and unreadable.
Joel smiled. “I already know how to settle the score for Emily.”

Chapter 64 Stay Out of it
On the wild island, Whitney washed up in the place the production team had prepared for Ryan. She put on clean clothes and felt much more comfortable.
She came out of the bathroom with a towel on her head and bumped straight into Ryan.
Ryan had washed up. A nice smell lingered in the air, mixed with a hint of fresh moisture.
She knew Ryan’s scent well, but it still made Whitney uneasy. Every time he got close, she just couldn’t keep calm.
She didn’t like feeling out of control. Whitney put some distance between them. She asked, “What were you doing outside my bathroom?”
She was showering, and he was right outside. If she didn’t know Ryan better, Whitney would have kicked him and cursed him out.
“Just getting something,” Ryan said. He held up the towel.
After all, it was just a temporary place made from an abandoned building, so it wasn’t very big. The sink was right across from the bathroom, with Ryan’s stuff on it. So, it just happened that way.
Ryan noticed her blush slightly. He got it and said, “Relax, the door has great soundproofing. I heard nothing.” Whitney was speechless. She wondered, ‘He really
ly shouldn’t have explained that.‘
Whitney slipped past Ryan and rubbed her hair with the towel. “Thanks for the shower.”
After rubbing her hair, Whitney pulled the towel away and let the dripping ends soak her clothes.
“I should head back.” Whitney sighed. ‘Life’s tough. This is the price of my own stupid choices. Now I have to go back to that shack. Whitney wondered.
Whitney turned to leave. Ryan grabbed her wrist. With a little tug, he pulled her back.
Whitney raised her other hand to block herself from bumping into Ryan again. But he pulled her down onto the seat next to him. Whitney stared at Ryan, not sure what he was doing.
Ryan kept a gentle hand on her shoulder. He said, “You’ll get sick if you don’t dry your hair.” He walked to the sink and got a hairdryer.
Whitney rubbed her hair. She replied, “I’m not that weak.” She wondered, ‘Seriously? Who gets sick from wet hair? Just you.’ Whitney wanted to tell him to worry about his own weak body. Suddenly, she remembered how well Ryan drove on the water, just as good as her. “You’re not exactly weak,” Whitney said.
