Any lingering nerves Willow had vanished into thin air.
Silas checked in quietly. "How are you holding up? Adjusting okay? If you feel uncomfortable at all, just let me know."
Willow shook her head. "Your family's dynamic is definitely different from what I imagined."
"Yeah, they're good people. Just treat this place like your own home."
Once inside, Jocelyn guided Willow to sit on the plush sofa and immediately had the staff bring out an array of fresh fruits. Willow didn't have to lift a finger; her only job was to be pampered and fed.
Silas even handled the presentation of the gifts flawlessly. Once everyone was seated, he signaled the staff to bring them over, specifically telling Jocelyn and the others that they were from Willow.
Willow knew he had prepared something, but she had no idea it would be this extensive.
There were eight elegantly packaged boxes in total. From the exquisite wrapping, one could tell they contained premium items—sea cucumber, bird's nest, and cashmere for the women, alongside rare teas, aged liquor, and purple clay teapots for the men. It was a comprehensive, meticulously thought-out selection.
She was taken aback by Silas's incredible attention to detail, having considered every single angle. Her appreciation for him deepened significantly. Not only was he wealthy and handsome, but he possessed an incredibly thoughtful heart. Whoever ended up with him would be undeniably lucky.
Willow wasn't the only one impressed. When Jocelyn saw the gifts, her first reaction was sheer surprise. "Willow, sweetheart, why did you go to all this trouble?"
Her second reaction was pure delight. "How did you know I love this cashmere scarf? I was just about to buy one! And this purple clay teapot—it's Grandpa Thorne's absolute favorite."
Standing nearby, Silas grew anxious, terrified his mother might ask a question that would make Willow uncomfortable. He shot his father a subtle look, silently urging him to rein his wife in.
Alistair Thorne simply gave him a placid look and replied, "As long as your mother is happy."
Silas was momentarily speechless. He really was overthinking things; his father would never try to control his mother's joy. It was a futile effort anyway—in their household, Alistair was famously known for doting on his wife to the extreme.
Taking advantage of Jocelyn getting up to fetch water, Silas leaned in and whispered to Willow, "If you don't like being interrogated so much, you can just tell her no."
But Willow genuinely didn't mind. "I can tell your mom actually likes me, and talking to her is a lot of fun."
