Willow and Jade hadn't seen each other in a few days, so the moment they met up, the conversation flowed endlessly.
Their first stop was the hospital to visit Martha Mercer. Her stem cell transplant was a success, and she was recovering beautifully in the sterile ward. Assuming her numbers remained stable, she'd be cleared to leave the isolation room soon.
After leaving the hospital, they headed straight to Crimson Hearth, chatting animatedly over the bubbling broth.
Willow filled Jade in on everything that happened in Seattle. Naturally, she conveniently omitted the part where she went to Silas's house—and the kiss they shared. She knew Jade would lose her mind and blow it entirely out of proportion if she found out.
But even without the juicy details, the edited version of the trip was more than enough to leave Jade utterly shell-shocked.
"Are you seriously telling me Silas Thorne personally flew out with you, and he used his Gulfstream G650ER?"
Willow quickly corrected her. "He didn't fly out specifically to accompany me. He was just heading back home."
Jade wasn't buying it for a second. "He's the CEO of Merit. He can go home literally whenever he wants. You really think it's a coincidence he chose the exact time you were traveling? Please. Do you honestly think billionaires have to rigorously schedule their PTO like the rest of us slaving away in the trenches?"
"You're half right." While it was true Silas wasn't bound by strict corporate policies, Willow knew he was a relentless workaholic. He wasn't the type to drop a massive workload on a whim.
Because of that, she still believed he hadn't made the trip entirely for her sake.
"Half right, my ass," Jade said, ignoring Willow's vague deflection. Her eyes gleamed with curiosity. "I have never been on a private jet in my entire life. Spill. What was it like? Was it insanely luxurious? I heard billionaire jets are basically flying five-star hotels with everything you could ever imagine on board."
Willow thought about it for a moment. "Yeah, that pretty much sums it up." Silas's jet was, in fact, devastatingly opulent.
