"Right now?" Willow did want to meet him, but she hadn't meant this very second. Looking at the time, she worried it was too late. "Isn't it a bit late? He probably won't come out."
Jade, however, was strangely confident. "Don't worry. He'll come."
If it were just her asking, Jade would have zero confidence that Hugo would show up. But with Willow involved, it was an entirely different story.
Over the past few weeks working at the firm, Jade had quietly pieced things together. Although Hugo had never explicitly said it, she knew he had hired her largely because of her connection to Willow. What she didn't know was exactly how deep his feelings for Willow ran.
There had always been clues. Back in college, Hugo was always the one stealing lingering glances at Willow. Unfortunately, Willow had been so blindly devoted to Julian that she never even noticed he existed.
Honestly, if Willow hadn't already met Silas, Jade would have been perfectly happy to play matchmaker and set them up. But she knew Willow too well; Willow didn't have a single romantic spark for Hugo.
Feeling a slight buzz from the drinks she'd had, Jade let her liquid courage take the wheel. She pulled out her phone and immediately fired off a text to Hugo.
[Mr. Harrington, have you eaten yet? If you're free, would you like to grab dinner? My treat, as a thank-you for looking out for me lately.]
Then, paranoid that he would politely decline, she instantly followed up with a second message: [I'm with Willow.]
