Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 361

Jade smiled, letting the comment slide.

Knowing Hugo Harrington was on his way, they switched tables out of respect. They ordered a fresh round of dishes, planning to add more once he arrived.

Even though Jade was the one who invited him, her nerves spiked the closer it got to his arrival. At the office, it was fine—work provided a buffer, and she didn't have to dwell on her secret crush. But out here, away from the corporate safety net, it was the only thing on her mind.

"Willow, I'm a little nervous."

"What's wrong?" Seeing Jade's flushed cheeks, Willow grew concerned. "What are you nervous about? You see him every day at work. Did you mess something up? Are you worried he's going to yell at you?"

She offered a comforting smile. "I don't know him that well, but he seems like a perfect gentleman. I doubt he agreed to dinner just to chew you out."

"Do you get nervous when you see Silas?" Jade asked, completely ignoring Willow's logic.

Willow replied honestly. "Sometimes, yeah."

When he got too close, or said things she didn't understand.

"What do you usually do when you get nervous?"

Willow usually changed the subject or pretended not to hear, but that was embarrassing to admit. "It depends on the situation. If you're really that worked up, maybe have a drink to take the edge off. It might help."

Jade was a decent drinker, but Willow didn't realize how much she had already thrown back when she wasn't looking.

"You're right. Alcohol takes the edge off. I need a drink."

Then Jade started drinking non-stop. Willow tried to stop her.

"That's enough. You can stop."
