Willow put her things down and answered. "Mr. Thorne."
"Yes," Silas's voice came through the line. "Are you at home?"
"I am. What's wrong?" Assuming it was an emergency at the office, she rushed to add, "I'm not doing much. If you need me, I can head to the office right now."
"It's not about work," Silas clarified smoothly. "It's good that you're home. Stay there, I'll be there in a minute."
"In a minute?" Willow was stunned. "You're coming to my place?"
"Yeah. I'm about five minutes out."
His abrupt visit made Willow assume the worst. She stood up instantly, her heart racing. "What is it? Did something happen?"
"No, it's nothing major, but it's easier to explain in person."
The truth was, Silas didn't have anything important to tell her. He had simply bought fresh groceries and wanted to come over and cook her some soup. But saying that over the phone felt a bit too intimate, so he kept it vague.
He also knew that if he asked for permission, she would probably say no, so he opted for the 'ask for forgiveness, not permission' route.
Even though he said it wasn't a big deal, Willow was still anxious. She didn't even bother to change out of her pajamas before hurrying downstairs.
By the time she reached the lobby, Silas's car was pulling up. Seeing him step out with several large grocery bags, she looked utterly confused. "What is all this?"
